How to cancel Dropout

Dropout cancellation depends on where you signed up. Website subscribers cancel in Billing and Subscription settings: avatar menu, Manage Subscription, cancel subscription, decline the pause offer, then Confirm Cancellation. Apple, Google Play, Roku and Amazon signups must cancel through that store instead — on Roku that means turning off auto-renew. Access continues until the next charging cycle; website refunds require contacting Dropout support.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

No term contract, minimum commitment or notice period is documented. As an alternative to cancelling, Dropout documents pausing a monthly subscription for one, two or three months — no charge during the pause, but also no viewing access. Pausing is only available for subscriptions purchased on the Dropout website, and annual subscriptions cannot be paused.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel on the Dropout website (signed up at dropout.tv)

  1. 1

Sign in to your account on the Dropout website. Dropout notes that if you signed up and paid on the website, you can only cancel via the website and not via the apps.

  2. 2

Navigate to the settings menu in the top right corner of the screen by clicking on your avatar.

  3. 3

Click Manage Subscription within the Billing and Subscription settings page.

  4. 4

    Click the "cancel subscription" option.

  5. 5

In the pop-up that appears, choose "No thanks, I want to cancel" rather than a Pause option — Dropout notes that choosing Pause only halts automatic renewal for the selected amount of time — then select Continue.

  6. 6

Complete or skip the short optional survey, then select Confirm Cancellation to finalize the cancellation.

  7. 7

Check for the on-screen confirmation window and the confirmation email, and verify the subscription shows as 'Canceled' in your settings.

Cancel an Apple-billed Dropout subscription (iOS or Apple TV app)

  1. 1

Confirm you signed up inside Dropout's Apple iOS or Apple TV app. Dropout's iOS help article states "We are not able to cancel this for you. You must do it from your device," and its cancellation article links out to Apple's own instructions.

  2. 2

In the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name.

  3. 3

    Tap Subscriptions.

  4. 4

    Tap the Dropout subscription.

  5. 5

Tap Cancel Subscription — you may need to scroll down to find the button. Apple states that if there is no Cancel button or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already canceled.

  6. 6

An Apple subscription is tied to your Apple Account rather than to one device, so cancelling here also ends a subscription started in the Apple TV app.

Cancel a Google Play-billed Dropout subscription (Android or Android TV app)

  1. 1

Confirm you signed up inside Dropout's Google Play / Android app — Dropout directs these subscribers to Google Play.

  2. 2

Go to subscriptions in Google Play on your Android device.

  3. 3

Select the Dropout subscription you want to cancel.

  4. 4

Tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.

  5. 5

Google notes you can still use the subscription for the time already paid for, and will not be charged at the next renewal.

Cancel a Roku-billed Dropout subscription (Roku channel)

  1. 1

Confirm you subscribed through Dropout's Roku channel. Dropout's Roku help article states "We are not able to cancel this Roku subscription for you" and links out to Roku.

  2. 2

On the web: go to my.roku.com/subscriptions and sign in to your Roku account.

  3. 3

Under Active subscriptions, select the Dropout subscription.

  4. 4

Select Manage subscription, then select Turn off auto-renew. Roku offers no separate cancel button — turning off auto-renew is the cancellation.

  5. 5

On a Roku device instead: press Home, scroll to the Apps section and highlight Dropout, press the Star button on the remote, select Manage subscription, then select Turn off auto-renew. Roku notes Manage subscription is not available from Quick Access.

  6. 6

Roku states your subscription stays active until the end of the billing cycle, and that no partial-term refunds are provided.

Cancel an Amazon-billed Dropout subscription (Amazon / Fire TV)

  1. 1

Confirm you subscribed to Dropout through Amazon or the Amazon Fire TV app. Dropout's Amazon help article states "We are not able to cancel this Amazon subscription for you. You will need to do it from your end manually."

  2. 2

Sign in to your Amazon account and open Amazon's subscription management help page, which Dropout's cancellation article links to directly: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GDT2SXJJ7K49JKYE

  3. 3

Cancel or turn off renewal for the Dropout subscription in your Amazon account, then confirm the change is reflected there.

Expect a retention offer

  • Clicking "cancel subscription" opens a pop-up offering to pause for one, two or three months instead of cancelling
  • A short optional exit survey is shown before the cancellation can be finalized
  • Cancellation is not complete until you select Confirm Cancellation on a separate confirmation step

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Video access continues until the next charging cycle, and you are not charged again.
  • A confirmation window appears on screen and Dropout sends a confirmation email.
  • The subscription should show as 'Canceled' in your Dropout settings — check this if no confirmation email arrives.
  • If the Manage Subscription page does not show the cancel options, Dropout asks you to contact support with the last four digits of the card being charged or the email registered on the account.
  • If Roku billed you, the cancellation shows as auto-renew being switched off rather than as a cancel confirmation — the subscription runs to the end of the billing cycle.
  • You can resubscribe later; Dropout publishes a separate help article on resubscribing after cancelling.

Refund notes

  • No refund window is published. Dropout's refund article (https://watch.dropout.tv/help/articles/refund) says website subscribers should contact Dropout support, who will review the request — Dropout states this is the only subscription type its support team is capable of refunding. Subscriptions billed through Apple, Google Play, Roku or Amazon must be refunded by those companies directly; Roku states it does not provide partial-term refunds.

FAQ

I subscribed to Dropout in the iPhone app — can I cancel on dropout.tv instead?

No. Dropout's cancellation article says the steps depend on how you initially signed up, and it links App Store subscribers out to Apple. Dropout's separate iOS help article states "We are not able to cancel this for you. You must do it from your device," so cancel in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. The reverse also applies: Dropout notes that if you signed up and paid on the website, you can only cancel via the website and not via the apps.

Does Dropout cut off my access as soon as I cancel?

No. Dropout's cancellation article states that when you cancel, your video access will exist until the next charging cycle, but you will not be further charged. So a plan already paid through a given date stays watchable until that date rather than ending the moment you confirm.

Where is the cancel button for a Roku-billed Dropout subscription?

There isn't one — Roku documents Manage subscription, then Turn off auto-renew, and that is the cancellation. On the web, go to my.roku.com/subscriptions, select Dropout under Active subscriptions, then Manage subscription and Turn off auto-renew. On a Roku device, press Home, scroll to the Apps section, highlight Dropout, press the Star button, then Manage subscription (it is not reachable from Quick Access). Dropout's Roku help article states "We are not able to cancel this Roku subscription for you," and Roku says the subscription runs to the end of the billing cycle with no partial-term refund.

What is the pause option Dropout offers when I try to cancel?

Clicking "cancel subscription" on the Dropout website opens a pop-up that offers pausing instead. Dropout documents pauses of one, two or three months, available only for monthly subscriptions purchased on its website — annual subscriptions cannot be paused. During a pause you are not charged, but you also cannot watch. To actually cancel, choose "No thanks, I want to cancel," select Continue, then Confirm Cancellation.

How do I get a refund from Dropout?

It depends on who billed you. Dropout's refund article says website subscribers should contact Dropout support, who will review the request, and that this is the only subscription type its support team is capable of refunding. Subscriptions bought through Apple, Google Play, Roku or Amazon must be refunded by those companies. Dropout does not publish a fixed refund window.
