How to cancel Squarespace

Squarespace cancellations are self-serve on the web. Open your account dashboard, go to the site's Billing panel, click the subscription, then Cancel subscription, and work through the reason and confirmation screens. Monthly plans run to the end of the cycle. Domains, Google Workspace, Acuity Scheduling and Email Campaigns keep billing until each is canceled separately.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

Monthly plans: through the end of the current billing cycle if you choose Retain Access. Annual plans: through the paid term with Retain Access, or service ends right away if you choose Get Refund Immediately while inside the refund window.
Contract / fees
No minimum term or early-termination fee is documented. Annual plans are prepaid for the year; outside the 14-day refund window, canceling an annual plan does not return the unused portion, so choosing "Retain Access" keeps the site up for the term already paid for. Squarespace also states that legacy pricing plans cannot be reactivated once canceled — reactivation requires moving to a current plan.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel a Squarespace website subscription

  1. 1

Log in to your Squarespace account dashboard and open the Billing panel for the site you want to cancel.

  2. 2

Under Subscriptions, click the subscription or plan.

  3. 3

    Click Cancel subscription.

  4. 4

Review the cancellation details and choose Retain Access to end service when the billing cycle finishes, or Get Refund Immediately to end service now if you are inside the refund window. Click Continue.

  5. 5

Select a cancellation reason from the dropdown menu, then click Next.

  6. 6

Fill in the feedback form (optional) and click Next.

  7. 7

Review the panel listing your other active subscriptions, then click Continue.

  8. 8

    Click Cancel subscription to confirm.

Cancel Squarespace add-on subscriptions separately

  1. 1

Squarespace states that all subscriptions are independent from your site, so canceling the website plan leaves domains, Google Workspace, Acuity Scheduling and Email Campaigns active and billing.

  2. 2

Go back to the Billing panel in your account dashboard and look at everything still listed under Subscriptions.

  3. 3

Open each remaining subscription and cancel it individually — Squarespace publishes a separate help article for each service.

  4. 4

Note that a Digital Products plan behaves differently: it pauses for 30 days when the site is canceled rather than ending outright.

Request a refund from Squarespace

  1. 1

Check eligibility first: annual website subscriptions canceled within 14 days of purchase qualify for a full refund; monthly plans, renewal payments, Getty Images purchases and Email Campaigns plans are non-refundable.

  2. 2

Submit Squarespace's refund request form, linked from its Refund policies help article.

  3. 3

Squarespace says it aims to respond within two business days.

  4. 4

Approved refunds take 3 to 10 business days to appear on your card statement.

  5. 5

If your annual plan came with a free domain offer, the cost of the domain is deducted from the refund.

Expect a retention offer

  • Cancellation is gated behind a multi-screen flow rather than a single confirm button
  • A cancellation-reason dropdown must be selected before you can continue
  • An additional feedback form step appears before confirmation
  • A panel listing your other active subscriptions is shown before you can finish
  • The flow ends with a second Cancel subscription click to confirm

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • A "Website expired" message appears when anyone visits the site from your domains, and the site is no longer visible
  • Your data is preserved and you can log into the account dashboard and reactivate the site at any time
  • You keep access to the Contacts, Products & Services, Billing, Domains & Email, Import & export, and Permissions & Ownership panels
  • Domains, Google Workspace, Acuity Scheduling and Email Campaigns stay active and keep billing until canceled on their own
  • A Digital Products plan pauses for 30 days rather than ending immediately
  • Legacy pricing plans cannot be reactivated after cancellation — you would have to move to a current plan
  • A site can only be deleted once it is already expired or canceled

Refund notes

  • Annual website subscriptions canceled within 14 days of purchase are eligible for a full refund, requested via Squarespace's refund request form; the cost of a free-offer domain is deducted. Monthly website plans and renewal payments are non-refundable, as are Getty Images purchases and Email Campaigns plans. Squarespace aims to reply to refund requests within two business days, and refunds take 3 to 10 business days to show on a card statement.

FAQ

Does canceling my Squarespace website subscription also cancel my domain and other add-ons?

No. Squarespace states that all subscriptions are independent from your site, so canceling or changing a website plan won't cancel other active services. Domains, Google Workspace, Acuity Scheduling and Email Campaigns each stay active and keep billing until you cancel them individually from the Billing panel. A Digital Products plan is the exception — it pauses for 30 days.

Can I get a refund when I cancel a Squarespace annual plan?

Squarespace's website refund policy allows a full refund for annual website subscriptions canceled within 14 days of purchase, requested through its refund request form. Renewal payments are not refundable, so cancel before the renewal date. If your annual plan included a free domain, the domain cost is deducted from the refund. Refunds take 3 to 10 business days to appear.

Does Squarespace refund monthly website plans?

No. Squarespace lists monthly website subscriptions as non-refundable. If you cancel a monthly plan and choose Retain Access, service continues to the end of the billing cycle you already paid for and then stops. Getty Images purchases and Email Campaigns plans are also listed as non-refundable.

What happens to my Squarespace site after I cancel?

The site goes offline and a "Website expired" message appears when anyone visits it from your domains. Squarespace says canceling preserves your data, and you keep access to the Contacts, Products & Services, Billing, Domains & Email, Import & export, and Permissions & Ownership panels in your dashboard.

Can I reactivate a Squarespace site after canceling it?

Yes — Squarespace says you can log into your account dashboard and reactivate a site at any time, since cancellation preserves your content. One catch: if you were on a legacy pricing plan, that plan can't be reactivated, and you'd need to pick from the current plans instead.
