Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

If your monday.com account has one product

  1. 1

Click on your profile picture and choose Administration from the menu.

  2. 2

Select Billing in the left-hand menu. In the Overview section, find your product, click the three-dot menu next to it, and choose Cancel product.

  3. 3

Choose a reason for cancelling — monday.com requires a reason to continue, though details are optional — then click Cancel product plan.

  4. 4

On the screen showing your plan's end date, click Cancel plan renewal.

  5. 5

Keep using the account until the plan end date shown in red, or click Close your account at the bottom of the page to end it immediately.

  6. 6

On the final screen, monday.com warns that access to your account data will be lost — click Close Account to proceed.

  • monday.com states that if you're an existing customer you must submit the cancellation at least 30 days before your renewal date so the plan ends at the end of the current term and does not auto-renew.
  • For an account with several products, repeat the three-dot menu > Cancel product step for each one — monday.com says the account cannot be fully closed or deleted until all purchased products have been cancelled, and each should show the red Plan cancelled banner.

monday.com states "You can only cancel your account via the web browser or on an iOS device."

  2. 2

  3. 3

    Navigate to Admin settings.

  4. 4

    Select Delete account.

  5. 5

There is no documented cancellation path in the Android app — sign in through a web browser and use Administration > Billing instead.

If your monday.com subscription is paid by wire transfer (invoice)

  1. 1

monday.com states that a subscription paid by wire transfer (invoice) cannot be cancelled in the Administration section — you have to contact your account manager to cancel it.

  2. 2

Contact your monday.com account manager with the account name and ask for the subscription to be cancelled.

  3. 3

As an existing customer, send that request at least 30 days before your subscription end date so the plan ends at the end of the current term instead of auto-renewing.

  4. 4

Ask for written confirmation of the cancellation and the plan end date.

  5. 5

If you are not an admin and your account admin is unavailable, monday.com's cancellation article points you to its support team for help.

Expect a retention offer

  • The cancel flow will not proceed until you select a reason for cancelling (extra details are optional)
  • Cancellation is split across stacked confirmation screens: Cancel product, then Cancel product plan, then Cancel plan renewal, then Close your account, then Close Account
  • An account with multiple products cannot be closed until every purchased product has been cancelled one at a time
  • After the renewal is cancelled, monday.com surfaces a Reactivate plan option in the product's three-dot menu right up to the plan end date
  • The 30-day notice requirement for existing customers means a late cancellation still results in a full renewed term

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

monday.com renewed even though you meant to cancel.

monday.com's stated rule for existing customers is a 30-day notice before the subscription end date; without it the plan may auto-renew and, under its Terms of Service, you are committed for the renewed term. Its article says refunds do not apply once a term renews. Check Administration > Billing for the renewal date and submit the cancellation as soon as you decide, rather than waiting for the last week.

The Cancel product option is missing from your monday.com Billing page.

Two documented reasons. Only an admin can cancel an account, so a regular user won't see it. And a subscription paid by wire transfer (invoice) cannot be cancelled in the Administration section at all — monday.com routes those to your account manager. If you are not an admin and yours is unavailable, monday.com's cancellation article links its support team.

You cannot find a way to cancel in the monday.com Android app.

There isn't one. monday.com states "You can only cancel your account via the web browser or on an iOS device." On iOS the path is More > Admin settings > Delete account. On Android, sign in through a browser and use profile picture > Administration > Billing > three-dot menu > Cancel product instead.

You closed your monday.com account and now cannot sign in.

That is documented behaviour. monday.com says a closed account moves to a free trial for 7 days, and after that it becomes inactive and you and your team can no longer sign in. If you wanted the Free plan, the documented route is to wait until that 7-day trial expires and click "Not ready yet? Downgrade to our Free plan." Export your data before closing next time — monday.com documents a separate export flow.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Cancelling the product turns off the renewal; the plan end date appears in red on the billing overview and you can keep working until then.
  • Until that date the decision is reversible — monday.com says you can reactivate the cancelled plan at any time by selecting Reactivate plan from the product's three-dot menu.
  • If you click Close your account instead, access ends immediately and monday.com warns that access to your account data will be lost.
  • Once the account is closed it moves to a free trial for 7 days; after that it becomes inactive and you and your team can no longer sign in.
  • To land on the Free plan, monday.com says to wait for that trial to expire and then click "Not ready yet? Downgrade to our Free plan."
  • Export your data before closing the account — monday.com documents a separate account-wide export flow for this.

Refund notes

  • monday.com splits refunds three ways. Net-new customers making a first-time purchase may be eligible for a prorated refund on yearly plans cancelled within 30 days of purchase, requested in writing during that window — and monday.com notes the account is closed as part of processing that refund. Existing customers get nothing once a term renews: monday.com states the subscription continues through the renewed term and refunds do not apply, so cancellation has to be submitted at least 30 days before the subscription end date. Refunds do not apply to monthly renewals at all.

FAQ

How much notice does monday.com need before I cancel?

For existing customers, 30 days. monday.com states "If you're an existing customer and want to cancel at the end of your current term, you must give a 30-day notice before your subscription end date. If notice isn't provided, your plan may auto-renew and you'll be committed for the renewed term under our Terms of Service." Confirm your renewal date in Administration > Billing first.

How do I cancel a monday.com subscription?

As an admin, click your profile picture and choose Administration, then Billing. In the Overview section, click the three-dot menu next to your product and choose Cancel product, select a reason, and click Cancel product plan. On the screen showing your plan end date, click Cancel plan renewal. If your subscription is paid by wire transfer, monday.com routes you to your account manager instead.

What is the difference between cancelling a monday.com product and closing my account?

monday.com's own FAQ answers this: "Canceling a product turns off auto-renew so it ends at the current term's end, while closing your account ends access and requires canceling all products first." After cancelling, you can keep working until the plan end date shown in red, or click Close your account and then Close Account to stop access immediately.

Can I move to the monday.com Free plan instead of cancelling outright?

Yes, but only after closing the account. monday.com says that once the account is closed it is moved to a free trial for 7 days; when that trial expires you click "Not ready yet? Downgrade to our Free plan." Until then the account keeps running on its paid plan through the end of the term.

Can I get a refund from monday.com?

Only in narrow cases. monday.com says net-new customers may be eligible for a prorated refund on yearly plans cancelled within 30 days of purchase, requested in writing during that window, and the account is closed as part of processing it. Refunds do not apply to monthly renewals, and for existing customers monday.com states that once a term renews the subscription continues through the renewed term and refunds do not apply.
