How to cancel ClickUp

Cancel ClickUp in Workspace settings: click your Workspace avatar, select Settings, click Billing in the All settings sidebar, then click Downgrade or Cancel plan. You must be an owner or admin. The Workspace switches plans at the end of your billing cycle, and annual plans need 30 days' notice.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

If you own or administer the ClickUp Workspace

  1. 1

In the upper-left corner, click your Workspace avatar and select Settings.

  2. 2

In the All settings sidebar, click Billing.

  3. 3

    Click Downgrade or Cancel plan.

  4. 4

Follow the prompts to confirm the plan you are moving to — Free Forever is the plan ClickUp documents as the free tier.

  • ClickUp states "You can downgrade at any time during your billing cycle," that "Your Workspace will switch to the new plan at the end of your billing cycle," and that "All your data will remain in the Workspace and can be accessed if you upgrade again."
  • Only owners and admins see these controls — ClickUp restricts upgrades, downgrades and billing-cycle switches to those roles.

If you are on an annual ClickUp plan

  1. 1

Find your renewal date in Settings > Billing before you do anything else — ClickUp's terms set accounts to automatically renew by default.

  2. 2

Submit the downgrade or cancellation at least thirty days prior to the Services renewal date. ClickUp's Terms of Service state that otherwise the Services will automatically renew for an additional twelve month period.

  3. 3

Use the same path to do it: Workspace avatar > Settings > Billing > Downgrade or Cancel plan.

  4. 4

Note the date you submitted the cancellation — the notice window is what determines whether the annual term renews.

  5. 5

If this is a first-time purchase within the last thirty days, ask ClickUp's team what its published satisfaction terms cover rather than assuming a refund applies automatically.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

Billing isn't in your ClickUp settings sidebar.

ClickUp restricts billing to owners and admins — its help article states you must be an owner or admin to upgrade or downgrade a Workspace, switch billing cycles, or even contact ClickUp with billing questions. Ask a Workspace owner or admin to run Workspace avatar > Settings > Billing > Downgrade or Cancel plan.

ClickUp renewed your annual plan after you tried to cancel.

Check when you submitted the cancellation. ClickUp's Terms of Service require notice of a downgrade or cancellation at least thirty days prior to the renewal date, and say the Services otherwise renew automatically for another twelve months. Accounts are set to auto-renew by default. Confirm your renewal date in Settings > Billing and submit the change well ahead of the window.

You cancelled ClickUp but are still being charged for an add-on.

That is expected. ClickUp states "Add-ons are independent of your plan. You must manually add and remove them." Add-ons live on their own tab: click your Workspace avatar, select Settings, click Plans in the All settings sidebar, then select the Add-ons tab. ClickUp documents that owners and admins cancel an add-on's auto-renewal there by clicking Cancel and confirming — cancelling or downgrading the plan does not remove them for you.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • The Workspace switches to the new plan at the end of the billing cycle rather than immediately.
  • ClickUp states "All your data will remain in the Workspace and can be accessed if you upgrade again."
  • You lose the features of the tier you left — ClickUp's pricing page lists what Free Forever, Unlimited, Business, Business Plus and Enterprise each include.
  • Any add-ons stay in place and keep billing until you remove them yourself.
  • On an annual plan, the change only lands if the notice arrived at least thirty days before the renewal date; otherwise ClickUp's terms renew the Services for another twelve months.

Refund notes

  • ClickUp's Terms of Service state that all fees are non-refundable except as required by law or under its satisfaction guarantee. That guarantee is a thirty-day money-back window for first-time purchasers who are unsatisfied, and it also covers new feature upgrades during their first month. ClickUp's terms exclude purchases made through a ClickUp sales representative, plan renewals or expansions, and services bought after a trial period. For an upgrade refund, ClickUp describes reverting to the prior plan and refunding the difference. ClickUp also says it notifies customers of pricing changes by email at least thirty days before the renewal date.

FAQ

How do I cancel my ClickUp plan?

In the upper-left corner, click your Workspace avatar and select Settings. In the All settings sidebar, click Billing, then click Downgrade or Cancel plan. ClickUp restricts this to Workspace owners and admins. The Workspace switches to the new plan at the end of your billing cycle, and all your data remains in the Workspace.

How much notice does ClickUp need before an annual renewal?

Thirty days. ClickUp's Terms of Service state that you must provide notice of any downgrades or cancellations at least thirty days prior to your Services renewal date, or the Services will automatically renew for an additional twelve month period. Accounts are set to renew automatically by default, so check your renewal date in Settings > Billing and submit the change early.

Do I lose my ClickUp data if I downgrade to Free Forever?

No. ClickUp states "All your data will remain in the Workspace and can be accessed if you upgrade again." What you lose is the feature set of the paid tier you left — ClickUp's pricing page lists what each plan includes. The switch happens at the end of your billing cycle, not immediately.

Who can cancel a ClickUp Workspace subscription?

Owners and admins only. ClickUp states "You must be an owner or admin to upgrade or downgrade a Workspace, switch billing cycles, or contact us with any billing questions." If Billing is missing from your All settings sidebar, you do not hold one of those roles — ask an owner or admin to make the change.

Does ClickUp give refunds when you cancel?

Rarely. ClickUp's Terms of Service say all fees are non-refundable except as required by law or under its satisfaction guarantee — a thirty-day money-back window for first-time purchasers who are unsatisfied, also covering new feature upgrades in their first month. It excludes purchases through a sales representative, plan renewals or expansions, and services bought after a trial period.
