How to cancel Cineworld Unlimited

Cineworld Unlimited has no cancel button. After your Minimum Term, give notice of termination to the Unlimited Team through Cineworld's online contact form or by emailing unlimited@cineworld.co.uk from your account address. Notice received 10 or more days before your payment date ends the membership the day before that payment; later, one more month is charged.

Cineworld's Unlimited Team — the online contact form on cineworld.co.uk, or an email to unlimited@cineworld.co.uk sent from the address associated with your Unlimited account. Cineworld's help centre also confirms that managing your Unlimited membership in the mobile app "is not available yet" and points you to your My Cineworld account online instead.

The day before your next payment is due, if Cineworld receives your notice in time. Its terms say that where notice arrives "10 days or more before your next payment date, your Membership will end the day before your next payment is due", and where it arrives "9 days or less before your next payment date, that payment will be payable and your Unlimited Membership will terminate one month later". Members still on the pre-October-2024 Direct Debit conditions have a 14-day rather than 10-day cut-off.

The Minimum Term is the whole story here. Cineworld's terms for memberships starting on or after 2 October 2024 define it as "the minimum membership period that you commit to during the online application process (currently either three (3) months when joining with the Pay Monthly Plan or Pay Upfront (3 months) Plan and twelve (12) months when joining with the Pay Upfront (12 months) Plan)". Section 4.4 states that by purchasing you are "committing to pay the full Membership Fee for the full duration of the Minimum Term and will not receive any refund of pre-paid Membership Fees except as expressly stated in section 9". Section 9.13 only lets you ask to terminate "after the Minimum Term" or during it "where you are disadvantaged by changes made by Cineworld". The one other in-term exit is section 9.11's Legitimate Grounds: being unable to use the card for a continuing period of three calendar months for medical reasons, or a permanent move outside the UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland, with supporting evidence and Cineworld's acceptance. Members who joined before 2 October 2024 sit on the older Unlimited Card Conditions, whose clause 8.3.5 says that if you "seek to terminate the Agreement except as permitted in clauses 10 or 11", Cineworld may terminate and is "entitled to recover" both "any subscription fees payable under the Agreement for the remainder of the Initial Period" and its losses and expenses, including reasonable administration expenses and debt collectors' fees. Section 7.6 of the current terms also confirms that after the Minimum Term payment is taken "under a continuous payment authority" on your card — there is background on that at /answers/what-is-continuous-payment-authority.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

If your Minimum Term has already ended

  1. 1

Check your next payment date in your My Cineworld account.

  2. 2

Give notice of termination to the Unlimited Team — Cineworld's cancellation article names the contact form or an email to unlimited@cineworld.co.uk.

  3. 3

Send the email from the address associated with your Unlimited account; Cineworld asks for this specifically.

  4. 4

Get your notice in 10 or more days before your next payment date if you pay by recurring card, or 14 or more days if you are still on the older monthly Direct Debit conditions.

  5. 5

Leave your card or Direct Debit instruction alone until the termination date Cineworld confirms in writing.

  • Cineworld's terms say notice arriving 9 days or less before your next payment date means that payment is still payable and the membership terminates one month later.
  • There is no self-serve cancel control: Cineworld's help centre says managing your Unlimited membership through the mobile app is not available yet and directs you to My Cineworld online.
  • Cineworld's terms give the Unlimited Team's own contact routes as the online contact form and post to Unlimited Team, Cineworld Cinemas Limited, 8th Floor Vantage London, Great West Road, Brentford, TW8 9AG; the unlimited@cineworld.co.uk address comes from its cancellation article.

If you want to stop it renewing when your Minimum Term ends

  1. 1

Find the date your Minimum Term ends — Cineworld says it will contact you at least 30 days before that date to tell you what the new monthly fee will be.

  2. 2

Contact the Unlimited Team in writing at least 10 days before the end of the Minimum Term. Section 9.12 of Cineworld's terms sets that deadline for stopping the automatic renewal.

  3. 3

Use the online contact form or unlimited@cineworld.co.uk, and state that you do not want the membership to continue month-to-month after the Minimum Term.

  4. 4

Ask for written confirmation of the end date.

  • Miss that 10-day window and section 4.6 applies: the membership renews and continues on a month-to-month basis at the current monthly rate until it is cancelled.

If you are still inside the 14-day cancellation period

  1. 1

Check the dates: Cineworld's terms say the cancellation period begins the day your membership starts (when the confirmation email is sent) and ends 14 days later.

  2. 2

Tell Cineworld using the contact details in its terms — the online contact form is the route it calls easiest — or use Cineworld's template cancellation form.

  3. 3

Send the notice before the 14 days expire. Cineworld says it is enough that you send it before the deadline, even if it arrives later.

  4. 4

Expect the refund to be reduced if you have used the membership: Cineworld reduces it by the usual price of tickets issued and of freebies and discounts received.

  5. 5

Watch for the refund, which Cineworld says is paid no later than 14 days after you notify it of the cancellation.

  • Section 9.5 says cancelling in this window ends the membership immediately, so you lose the benefits straight away.
  • Cineworld's terms note that if the value of tickets issued exceeds the fees you have paid, no refund is due at all.
  • The general UK position on statutory cancellation is covered at /guides/uk-subscription-cancellation-rights.

If you need to leave during the Minimum Term for medical reasons or a move abroad

  1. 1

Check that you fit section 9.11's Legitimate Grounds: unable to use the Unlimited Card for a continuing period of three calendar months for medical reasons, or a permanent address change to outside the UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland.

  2. 2

Notify the Unlimited Team in writing, stating the reason for termination.

  3. 3

Enclose supporting evidence — Cineworld's terms require it.

  4. 4

If Cineworld accepts the grounds, it refunds an amount equal to the fees paid in advance for the remaining full months of the Minimum Term after the termination date.

  5. 5

If it does not accept them, the membership continues and no refund is issued, so keep paying until you have a decision.

  • Cineworld's terms add that after a termination on Legitimate Grounds you may not re-join the Unlimited scheme for six months.

If you joined before 2 October 2024 and still pay by Direct Debit

  1. 1

Check which rulebook you are on. Cineworld's current terms say a membership that started before 2 October 2024 runs on the older Unlimited Card Conditions instead, and only those conditions use Direct Debit — the current terms accept debit and credit cards only.

  2. 2

Give notice of termination to the Unlimited Team by contact form or email to unlimited@cineworld.co.uk, sent from the address associated with your Unlimited account.

  3. 3

Cineworld's cancellation article sets the monthly Direct Debit cut-off at 14 days: notice received 14 days or more before your next payment date ends the membership the day before that payment; 13 days or less and the payment is still payable, with termination a month later.

  4. 4

Do not cancel the Direct Debit first. The older conditions say the Unlimited Card is deactivated automatically if you cancel the Direct Debit before the termination date, and that you should not cancel it until after the card expires or terminates.

  5. 5

Cancel the Direct Debit with your bank only after the confirmed end date has passed — there is a walkthrough at /answers/how-do-i-cancel-a-direct-debit-uk.

  • Cineworld will confirm the termination date in writing on receipt of your notice.
  • Direct Debit payers are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee, explained at /guides/direct-debit-guarantee-explained.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

I cannot find a cancel option in my account or the Cineworld app.

There isn't one. Cineworld's help centre says managing your Unlimited membership through the mobile app is not available yet, and its cancellation article routes you to the Unlimited Team via the online contact form or unlimited@cineworld.co.uk. Send the request from the email address on your Unlimited account.

I cancelled and another payment still came out.

Check the timing against Cineworld's cut-off. Notice received 9 days or less before your payment date (13 days or less on the older Direct Debit conditions) means that payment is payable and the membership terminates one month later. If you believe your notice arrived in good time, reply to the Unlimited Team with the date you sent it and the written termination confirmation.

My Unlimited Card stopped working before my end date.

This usually follows cancelling the card instruction or Direct Debit early. Cineworld's terms say the card is deactivated automatically in that situation and you cannot use the remainder of the month already paid for. Contact the Unlimited Team; the terms are clear that you should not stop the payment instruction until after the confirmed termination date.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Your Unlimited Card is deactivated on termination — Cineworld's terms say so explicitly.
  • If you gave notice in time, the membership runs to the day before your next payment was due, so you keep going to films for the rest of the month you paid for.
  • If your notice landed inside the cut-off, one further payment is taken and the membership terminates a month after that.
  • Cineworld confirms the termination date in writing. Wait until that date has passed before cancelling the card instruction or Direct Debit at your bank.
  • Check the next statement to confirm nothing further was collected.

Refund notes

  • Outside the 14-day cancellation period there is no ordinary refund. Cineworld's terms say the Membership Fees for the Minimum Term "must be paid in full for the whole Minimum Term that applies to you" and "are not refundable except as expressly stated in these Terms".
  • Inside the 14-day cancellation period a refund is due, but reduced. Cineworld says it will cut the refund "by the amount equivalent to the usual price of any tickets issued to you, freebies and discounts on snacks and drinks you have received", and that if the ticket value exceeds the fees paid, no refund is due.
  • On accepted Legitimate Grounds (medical, or moving outside the territory), Cineworld refunds fees paid in advance for the remaining full months of the Minimum Term after termination.
  • Cineworld also says it will refund fees paid in advance for the unexpired portion if it commits a serious breach of the terms, and that refunds due on termination are paid to your Payment Card within 14 days.

FAQ

How do I cancel my Cineworld Unlimited membership?

There is no cancel button. Cineworld's help centre says that after your minimum contract term you cancel "by giving notice of termination to the Unlimited team via the contact form or by email to unlimited@cineworld.co.uk", and asks you to send that email from the address associated with your Unlimited account. Cineworld then confirms your termination date in writing.

Can I cancel Cineworld Unlimited during the minimum term?

Only in narrow cases. Cineworld's help centre says you may cancel during the minimum contract term "in very limited circumstances or if we make a significant change to the Unlimited scheme or terms and conditions that has a detrimental effect on your membership". Its terms spell those out as the 14-day cancellation period and section 9.11's Legitimate Grounds — three continuous months unable to use the card for medical reasons, or a permanent move outside the UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland, with supporting evidence.

How long is the Cineworld Unlimited minimum term?

It depends on the plan. Cineworld's terms define the Minimum Term as three months on the Pay Monthly Plan or the Pay Upfront (3 months) Plan, and twelve months on the Pay Upfront (12 months) Plan. Section 4.4 says that by purchasing you commit to pay the full membership fee for that whole term.

How much notice does Cineworld Unlimited need before my next payment?

Ten days if you pay by recurring debit or credit card, which covers memberships starting on or after 2 October 2024. Cineworld says notice received 10 days or more before your next payment date ends the membership the day before that payment, while 9 days or less means the payment is still taken and the membership ends a month later. Members still paying by monthly Direct Debit under the older conditions get a 14-day cut-off instead.

Should I cancel my Direct Debit to end Cineworld Unlimited?

No — not before the termination date. Cineworld's terms warn that the Unlimited Card is deactivated automatically if you cancel the payment instruction before the membership termination date, and that you then lose the rest of the month you have already paid for. Give notice to the Unlimited Team first, wait for the written confirmation of your end date, and only then stop the payment at your bank.

Can I pause Cineworld Unlimited instead of cancelling it?

Possibly, but it is discretionary. Cineworld's help centre says monthly members who have completed the minimum contract term may be able to take a membership holiday of up to three months, requested through the Contact Us form at least 14 days before the next payment date. It also says holidays are granted at Cineworld's discretion, typically only once every two years of membership, are not a contractual right, and are only available for accounts created on or after 2 October 2024.
