How to cancel Webflow

Webflow cancels by downgrading to the free Starter plan. For a site: Site settings > Plans > Website tab > Downgrade to Starter. Remove add-ons and CMS or Ecommerce features first or the option stays greyed out. At period end your custom domains are removed and the site is unpublished. Webflow generally gives no refunds.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel a Webflow Site plan at the end of the billing period

  1. 1

Prepare the site: remove any add-ons (e.g., bandwidth add-ons), remove CMS features if you are dropping to Basic, and disable Ecommerce checkout under Settings > Ecommerce > Checkout if you are leaving an Ecommerce plan.

  2. 2

Go to Site settings > Plans > Website tab.

  3. 3

    Choose Downgrade to Starter.

  4. 4

    Choose Continue to downgrade.

  5. 5

(Optional) Choose the reason you're downgrading, then click Downgrade to Starter.

  • Webflow states that cancelling your paid Site plan will remove your custom domains and unpublish your site from both its custom domains and your Webflow staging subdomain at the end of your current billing period.
  • A banner on the Plans page shows when the downgrade will take effect. Webflow says that if you change your mind you must contact Webflow Support to cancel the scheduled downgrade.
  • Webflow also notes the legacy Editor is deprecating from Aug 4, 2026, and that you may need to remove all legacy Editor users from Site settings > Site access > Editor access first.

Cancel a Webflow Site plan immediately (e.g. to transfer the site)

  1. 1

Prepare the site the same way — Webflow says to remove any add-ons before downgrading to the Starter plan.

  2. 2

Complete the end-of-period downgrade steps first: Webflow's immediate-cancellation instructions say to cancel your Site plan immediately you follow the steps above, then continue below.

  3. 3

Go to Site settings > Plans > Website tab.

  4. 4

    Choose Downgrade now.

  5. 5

Click Downgrade now to immediately downgrade to the free Starter plan.

  • Webflow warns that downgrading immediately removes your custom domains and unpublishes your site from its custom domains and Webflow staging subdomain right away.
  • Webflow states that if you cancel immediately, no credit is applied for unused time.

Cancel a paid Webflow Workspace plan

  1. 1

Prepare first: Webflow says you must remove all team members and all seats from the Workspace plan before you can downgrade to Starter, and the number of unhosted websites must not exceed the new plan's limit (archive any you no longer need).

  2. 2

Open the Workspace you'd like to downgrade and click Plans.

  3. 3

    Click Downgrade to Starter.

  4. 4

(Optional) Choose the reason you're downgrading.

  5. 5

Click Downgrade Workspace plan to confirm.

  • Webflow states that after confirming, your Workspace plan remains active until the end of the current billing period, at which point it switches to the free Starter Workspace plan.
  • If the plan is already pending cancellation you can click Downgrade now (and confirm) to switch immediately.
  • Only one Starter Workspace is allowed per user — if you already have one, Webflow says you must archive it first.
  • Once the downgrade process begins, Webflow says you won't be able to add additional seats to the Starter Workspace until the next billing period.

Expect a retention offer

  • Webflow gates the downgrade behind prep work: add-ons must be removed before downgrading or cancelling, all CMS-related features must be removed before the Basic plan option stops being greyed out, and Ecommerce checkout must be disabled before you can move to a non-Ecommerce plan.
  • A scheduled downgrade cannot be reversed by you — Webflow says to contact Webflow Support to cancel a scheduled downgrade.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

The plan you want to downgrade to is unavailable or greyed out.

Webflow requires prep work first: remove add-ons, remove CMS features before dropping to Basic, disable Ecommerce checkout (Settings > Ecommerce > Checkout, toggle off, Save), and remove legacy Editor users from Site settings > Site access > Editor access.

You can't downgrade your Workspace to Starter.

Webflow says you must remove all team members and all seats first, and the number of unhosted websites must not exceed the new plan's limit — archive any you don't need. Also note only one Starter Workspace is allowed per user, so archive an existing one first.

Your site went offline and your custom domain stopped working after cancelling.

That is the documented behaviour: cancelling a paid Site plan removes custom domains and unpublishes the site from both the custom domains and the Webflow staging subdomain. Restoring it means moving back to a paid Site plan and reconnecting the domain.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Cancelling a paid Site plan removes your custom domains and unpublishes your site from both its custom domains and your Webflow staging subdomain — at the end of the billing period, or right away if you downgrade immediately.
  • Static pages: on Starter with more than two static pages, Webflow says existing pages stay editable but you can't add new ones unless the site is in a paid Workspace.
  • Custom code: unless the site sits in a paid Workspace plan, custom code added via Site settings, Page settings or embed elements remains on the published site, but you can't view or edit it until you're on a paid Site plan again.
  • Collection items and Ecommerce products: Webflow says you keep the ability to edit all existing items and products but can't add more, and everything stays published.
  • Upgrading to a paid Site plan later restores the ability to add pages, items and products.

Refund notes

  • Webflow states that it generally does not provide refunds (referring to section 8 of its Terms of Service) and does not automatically issue credit or refunds for unused time when downgrading a paid Site or Workspace plan to the free Starter plan — whether the downgrade takes effect immediately or at the end of the billing period.
  • Proration is for plan changes between paid tiers, not cancellations: Webflow says when you downgrade to a lower paid Site plan, the checkout modal indicates the prorated account credit you'll receive for unused time on the higher plan.

FAQ

Does cancelling a Webflow Site plan take my website offline?

Yes. Webflow states that cancelling your paid Site plan removes your custom domains and unpublishes your site from both its custom domains and your Webflow staging subdomain — at the end of the current billing period, or immediately if you choose the Downgrade now option.

Why is the Basic plan greyed out when I try to downgrade my Webflow Site plan?

Webflow says that if your site previously used CMS features on a higher-tier plan, the Basic plan option is greyed out until you remove all CMS-related features from the site. Separately, add-ons must be removed before downgrading or cancelling, Ecommerce checkout must be disabled under Settings > Ecommerce > Checkout to leave an Ecommerce plan, and you may need to remove legacy Editor users from Site settings > Site access > Editor access.

Can I get a refund for unused time on a Webflow plan?

Generally no. Webflow says it does not provide refunds (see section 8 of its Terms of Service) and does not automatically issue credit or refunds for unused time when downgrading a paid Site or Workspace plan to the free Starter plan, whether that downgrade is immediate or at period end.

How do I cancel a paid Webflow Workspace plan?

First remove all team members and all seats, and archive unhosted sites over the new plan's limit. Then open the Workspace, click Plans, click Downgrade to Starter, optionally pick a reason, and click Downgrade Workspace plan. It stays active until the end of the current billing period.

How do I stop a scheduled Webflow downgrade?

You can't do it yourself. Webflow says a banner at the top of the Plans page shows when the downgrade will take effect, and that if you change your mind you should contact Webflow Support to cancel the scheduled downgrade.
