iPad Subscriptions Work the Same as iPhone — With One Key Difference

The process for managing subscriptions on iPad is identical to iPhone, but iPad users often have additional subscriptions specific to the device: drawing apps, productivity tools, creative software, and educational apps that are more common on tablets than phones.

Here's the complete guide.

How to Cancel Subscriptions on iPad

  1. Open Settings on your iPad
  2. Tap your name at the very top (Apple ID)
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Tap the subscription you want to cancel
  5. Tap Cancel SubscriptionConfirm

This lists every App Store subscription on your Apple ID — the same list you'd see on iPhone.

Method 2: Via App Store

  1. Open the App Store on your iPad
  2. Tap your profile photo in the top right
  3. Tap your name → Subscriptions
  4. Find and cancel the subscription

Method 3: Via Mac (Same Apple ID)

If your iPad and Mac share the same Apple ID:

  1. Open App Store on Mac
  2. Click your name → View Information
  3. Click Manage next to Subscriptions
  4. Cancel from here — it applies to the same Apple ID used on your iPad

iPad-Specific Apps That Commonly Run Subscriptions

iPad users tend to accumulate subscriptions from these categories more than iPhone users:

Creative and productivity:

  • Procreate Pocket / GoodNotes / Notability
  • LumaFusion (video editing)
  • Affinity Designer / Photo (iPad versions)
  • Microsoft 365 / Adobe Fresco

Educational:

  • Duolingo Plus
  • Khan Academy app add-ons
  • Coursera / Skillshare

Drawing and design:

  • Vectornator / Linearity
  • Adobe Creative Cloud for iPad

All of these are billed through the App Store and canceled via the Settings → Subscriptions path.

What If a Subscription Doesn't Appear on iPad?

If you can't find a subscription in Settings → Subscriptions, it means:

  1. It's not billed through Apple — the subscription is billed directly by the company via credit card. You need to cancel on their website.
  2. It's on a different Apple ID — If you use different Apple IDs on different devices, the subscription is on the other ID.
  3. It's a family organizer's subscription — if you're in Apple Family Sharing, some subscriptions are managed by the family organizer.

iPad Subscriptions Hidden in App Settings

Some apps manage their own subscription system separate from Apple's. For example, some Android-developed iPad apps may process payments through their own systems. Check the app's Settings or Account section within the app itself if you believe you're subscribed but it doesn't appear in Apple Subscriptions.

Gravity on iPad

Gravity is currently an iPhone app — if you're primarily an iPad user managing subscriptions, you can use Gravity on your iPhone to track everything. The Apple Subscriptions page in iPad Settings gives you the same cancellation control regardless of whether you use a tracking app.

Gravity on iPhone tracks all your Apple subscriptions — iPad, iPhone, and Mac all share the same Apple ID billing.

  • Automatically finds all your subscriptions
  • Shows exactly what you're paying and when
  • Cancels unused services for you
