Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Your membership stays active until the end of the current billing cycle.
  • You keep all member benefits (unlimited reading, member-only stories) until then.
  • The subscription will not renew, so there are no further charges after the current period.
  • No refund or credit is issued for the unused days in the current period.

Refund notes

  • Medium keeps your benefits active until the end of the current billing period but does not refund or credit the remaining days. Check current pricing and terms in your account.

FAQ

Where do I cancel my Medium membership?

If Medium bills you directly (credit card or PayPal on medium.com), cancel on the web via your profile picture > Settings > Membership and payment > Cancel your membership. If you subscribed inside the iOS or Android app, cancel through Apple Subscriptions or Google Play instead.

How do I know whether Medium, Apple, or Google is billing me?

Check where you originally subscribed. Purchases made on medium.com are managed in your Medium Settings; app-store purchases must be canceled through Apple or Google Play. Deleting the app or your Medium account will not stop an App Store or Google Play subscription.

Will I get a refund if I cancel mid-cycle?

No. Medium keeps your benefits active until the end of the current billing period but does not refund or credit unused days. Check current pricing and terms in your account before canceling.

Do I lose access the moment I cancel?

No. You keep full member benefits until the end of your current billing cycle, and the membership simply will not renew afterward.
