Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

If you subscribed on the HeyGen website

  1. 1

Click your profile picture or name initial in the bottom-left corner and open Settings.

  2. 2

Find Plan & Billing in the left-side menu.

  3. 3

Click the down arrow next to Manage Billing.

  4. 4

    Select Cancel Plan.

  5. 5

Complete the short feedback prompts and click Continue Canceling.

  • HeyGen says that once you cancel, the subscription only ends at the end of the current billing cycle, so you can still create videos until then.
  • The same menu offers a pause instead, which postpones the next charge by exactly one billing cycle (usually 30 days); paused accounts resume automatically, though you can resume earlier. HeyGen warns that while paused your account is inactive, paid features are unavailable, and pausing expires your credit balance entirely — those unused credits are permanently lost and do not come back when the plan resumes.
  • HeyGen's billing article says discontinued products — the Finetune Avatar plan, Video Avatar Slot, and LiveAvatar slot — have to be cancelled by emailing support@heygen.com.

If you subscribed in the HeyGen iOS app

  1. 1

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. 2

Tap your Apple ID at the top of the screen.

  3. 3

    Select Subscriptions.

  4. 4

Find the HeyGen subscription in the list.

  5. 5

    Choose Cancel Subscription and confirm.

  • HeyGen warns that simply deleting or uninstalling the app from your mobile device does not cancel the subscription — you must complete the cancellation in your device's store settings.
  • HeyGen's billing article adds that App Store subscriptions are managed separately through Apple's billing system, and that changes to the subscription or payment method must be made directly in your Apple Account settings.

If you subscribed in the HeyGen Android app

  1. 1

Open the Google Play Store app.

  2. 2

Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.

  3. 3

Go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

  4. 4

    Select HeyGen.

  5. 5

Tap Cancel subscription and follow the on-screen instructions.

  • As with iOS, HeyGen says uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.

Expect a retention offer

  • HeyGen's cancel flow asks you to complete short feedback prompts and then click 'Continue Canceling' to confirm.
  • The Plan & Billing menu also offers a pause instead of cancelling, which HeyGen says postpones your next charge by exactly one billing cycle (usually 30 days). HeyGen warns that pausing expires your credit balance entirely — unused credits are permanently lost and are not added back when the subscription resumes.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

You cancelled on the HeyGen website but were charged again.

Check whether the subscription was bought in the App Store or Google Play. HeyGen says store subscriptions are managed separately through Apple's or Google's billing systems, so they have to be cancelled there — the HeyGen billing page cannot end them.

You can't find the Cancel Plan button.

It's hidden behind the down arrow next to the Manage Billing button on the Plan & Billing page, reached from your profile picture in the bottom-left corner > Settings. Discontinued products like the Finetune Avatar plan are cancelled by emailing support@heygen.com.

Your credits disappeared after the plan ended.

HeyGen says unused credits do not roll over when you cancel a paid plan and move to Free. If you're downgrading to a smaller paid plan instead, eligible unused credits can roll over for one additional billing cycle.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Your account stays active through the end of the current billing cycle, so you can keep creating videos until then.
  • Your existing videos remain saved and accessible.
  • Avatars beyond the free tier's single slot become locked, and HeyGen says any remaining unused credits expire when you move to the Free plan.
  • No prorated refund is issued automatically for the remaining time in the cycle.
  • If you paused instead of cancelling, HeyGen says the plan reactivates automatically at the end of the pause and bills you for the new month — so a pause is not a way to stop paying indefinitely.

Refund notes

  • HeyGen says payments are generally non-refundable except in specific cases required by law or reviewed at its discretion, and that cancelling stops future recurring charges but does not automatically refund past ones.
  • The documented review windows are within 15 days for HeyGen web purchases, within 15 days for Google Play, and within 14 days for the Apple App Store. HeyGen adds that a refund may be denied if a significant amount of credits has already been created.
  • Web and desktop requests go to support@heygen.com or live chat with your account email and the relevant invoices; Apple App Store refunds are submitted through reportaproblem.apple.com; Google Play refunds go to support@heygen.com with the order number and account email. HeyGen asks for 24-48 hours for a status update.

FAQ

How do I cancel my HeyGen subscription?

On desktop, click your profile picture in the bottom-left corner, open Settings, find Plan & Billing in the left menu, click the down arrow next to Manage Billing, select Cancel Plan, complete the short feedback prompts, and click Continue Canceling. If you subscribed in the mobile app, cancel through the Apple App Store or Google Play instead.

Can I pause my HeyGen plan instead of cancelling it?

Yes, on desktop. HeyGen says pausing your plan postpones your next charge by exactly one billing cycle, usually 30 days, and paused accounts resume automatically (you can resume earlier, which bills you immediately and moves your billing date). Read the warning first: HeyGen says pausing expires your credit balance entirely, and those unused credits are permanently lost rather than restored when the plan resumes.

What happens to my HeyGen videos, avatars, and credits after cancelling?

HeyGen says your videos remain saved and accessible, but avatars beyond the free tier's single slot become locked, and any remaining unused credits expire when the account moves down to Free. Its pricing article confirms unused credits do not roll over when you cancel a paid plan and move to Free.

Does deleting the HeyGen app cancel my subscription?

No. HeyGen states plainly that simply deleting or uninstalling the HeyGen app from your mobile device does not cancel the subscription — you must complete the cancellation steps in your device's store settings, in the iOS Settings app under Subscriptions or in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions.

How do I get a HeyGen refund after cancelling?

Cancelling doesn't refund past charges. HeyGen reviews requests case by case within 15 days for web and Google Play purchases and 14 days for Apple App Store purchases. Email support@heygen.com (or use live chat) with your account email and invoices; App Store refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com. Requests may be denied if a lot of credits were already used.
