How to cancel DeleteMe

DeleteMe cancels from its own dashboard: sign in at joindeleteme.com, open Account, then Billing & Subscriptions, and switch the Renewal toggle off. That stops the next charge but leaves your current term running. Refunds are handled by support — full before your first Privacy Report, pro-rated after. Deleting your account instead erases everything and cannot be undone.

Not commonly documented
Keeps access until
The end of your current paid term. DeleteMe documents that turning Renewal off stops automatic billing at the end of the term but does not end current service, and it emails a confirmation showing the current end date. Deleting the account instead ends access at once.
Contract / fees
No minimum term, early-termination fee or written-notice requirement is documented for consumer DeleteMe plans; the subscription is prepaid for a term and you switch off Renewal to stop the next charge. Check current pricing and plan lengths on DeleteMe's plans page. If the Subscription option is missing from your account menu, DeleteMe says you might be on a managed or team plan, and tells you to contact its Support team to cancel auto-renew or end service rather than doing it in the dashboard.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Turn off renewal in your DeleteMe account (main path)

  1. 1

    Log in at joindeleteme.com

  2. 2

Click Account in the left navigation

  3. 3

    Click Billing & Subscriptions

  4. 4

Toggle Renewal from On to Off

  5. 5

Note DeleteMe's warning that turning off Renewal stops automatic billing at the end of your term but does not end your current service

  6. 6

Watch for DeleteMe's email confirming the renewal change and your current end date

  7. 7

Screenshot your Subscription page after toggling Renewal for your records

  8. 8

If you want to fully cancel service rather than just stop auto-renew, DeleteMe says to reach out to support

Request a refund from DeleteMe support

  1. 1

Turn off Renewal in Account > Billing & Subscriptions first so no further charge is scheduled

  2. 2

Contact DeleteMe's support team to request the refund — there is no self-serve refund control (DeleteMe's help center publishes support@joindeleteme.com)

  3. 3

If you have not yet received your first Privacy Report, ask for the full refund DeleteMe documents as no questions asked

  4. 4

If you have already received your first Privacy Report, ask for the pro-rated refund based on the time remaining in your current term

  5. 5

Keep the confirmation email and your subscription screenshot as supporting evidence

Managed, team or company-paid DeleteMe plans

  1. 1

Sign in at joindeleteme.com and open Account > Billing & Subscriptions

  2. 2

If you do not see Subscription in the menu, DeleteMe says you might be on a managed or team plan

  3. 3

Contact DeleteMe's Support team and tell them you want to cancel auto-renew or end service — DeleteMe says "We'll sort it, no runaround"

  4. 4

If your plan was bought by an employer or group, ask that administrator about the underlying contract, since DeleteMe's article does not cover who is billed

Delete your DeleteMe account entirely (irreversible)

  1. 1

Settle any refund you are owed before starting — this step ends everything

  2. 2

Log in and select Account from the left menu

  3. 3

    Click Billing and Subscriptions

  4. 4

    Choose Delete my account

  5. 5

Review the confirmation page, which states this terminates all DeleteMe subscriptions under your account, deletes all data in those subscriptions and deactivates access to the member dashboard

  6. 6

Click Yes to permanently delete — DeleteMe states the operation is non-reversible

Expect a retention offer

  • Fully ending service — rather than just switching off renewal — is not offered as a self-serve control; DeleteMe's cancellation article tells you to reach out to support for that, though it promises to make it clean and fast
  • Separately from the cancellation flow, DeleteMe's renewal FAQ (https://help.joindeleteme.com/hc/en-us/articles/8172132115731-Why-do-I-need-to-renew-DeleteMe) warns that if you end your subscription your info could start to show up again on these sites without you knowing — persuasion that sits on a marketing-flavoured help page, not in the cancellation path itself

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Turning Renewal off stops automatic billing at the end of your term; DeleteMe states it does not end your current service
  • DeleteMe emails a confirmation of the renewal change showing your current end date
  • The Renewal toggle can be switched back on at any time using the same steps
  • Removal and monitoring work stops once the subscription ends; DeleteMe's renewal FAQ (https://help.joindeleteme.com/hc/en-us/articles/8172132115731-Why-do-I-need-to-renew-DeleteMe) warns your info could start to show up again on these sites without you knowing, and a companion article says that if you let your subscription lapse there is nothing stopping data brokers adding your details all over again
  • Deleting your account terminates all DeleteMe subscriptions on it, deletes all data in those subscriptions, and deactivates dashboard access — DeleteMe describes this as non-reversible

Refund notes

  • DeleteMe's published refund policy: a full refund, no questions asked, if you have not yet received your first Privacy Report, and a pro-rated refund for the unused time left in your term after you have received it. There is no self-serve refund button — the policy directs you to contact DeleteMe support. DeleteMe does not document a fixed-length money-back window; eligibility for the full refund is tied to delivery of that first Privacy Report rather than to a set number of days, and the refund article says you can cancel at any time, for any reason.

FAQ

Does turning off Renewal end my DeleteMe service right away?

No. DeleteMe documents that switching Renewal off stops automatic billing at the end of your term but does not end your current service. You keep dashboard access and ongoing removals until the end date, which DeleteMe confirms by email when you make the change. If you want service to stop sooner, DeleteMe's cancellation article says to contact support.

Can I get a refund from DeleteMe after cancelling?

DeleteMe's published policy gives a full refund, no questions asked, if you have not yet received your first Privacy Report, and a pro-rated refund based on the time remaining in your term after you have. There is no self-serve refund button — you contact DeleteMe's support team to request it, and DeleteMe's refund article says you can cancel at any time, for any reason.

Is deleting my DeleteMe account the same as cancelling billing?

No, and the difference matters. Deleting the account terminates every subscription on it, deletes all data in those subscriptions and deactivates dashboard access, and DeleteMe states the operation is non-reversible. If you only want the charges to stop, use the Renewal toggle in Account > Billing & Subscriptions instead.

What happens to my removed data once my DeleteMe subscription ends?

The monitoring and removal work stops. DeleteMe's separate renewal help page — not the cancellation article — warns that if you end your subscription, your info could start to show up again on these sites without you knowing, and another article notes that if you let the subscription lapse there is nothing stopping data brokers adding your details all over again.

I do not see a Subscription option in my DeleteMe account — how do I cancel?

DeleteMe says a missing Subscription entry in the menu means you might be on a managed or team plan. Contact DeleteMe's Support team and say you want to cancel auto-renew or end service; DeleteMe promises to sort it with no runaround. Its help article does not say who holds the billing relationship, so check with whoever bought the plan if that matters to you.
