How to cancel Audible Plus

Audible Plus is part of Audible's membership system, and Audible documents cancellation on its own site: sign in at audible.com, open your username menu, choose Account details, select Cancel membership, then keep selecting Continue through the offer and confirmation screens. The app cannot cancel it. Memberships billed through Apple or Google must be ended in those stores instead.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

Contract / fees
Audible documents no term commitment and no cancellation fee — plans are presented as cancel-anytime. Cancellation must happen on the Audible website or Audible mobile web; Audible states plainly that deleting the Audible app will not cancel a membership. Note that Audible's main US plans page currently features Standard and Premium tiers, while Audible's help center still lists Audible Plus among the plans a member can switch to, so which tiers are open to new versus existing members can vary — check the current plan options and pricing on Audible's site before switching or canceling.

Expect a retention offer

  • The Cancel membership link routes through an offers page before you reach the cancellation form.
  • Multiple confirmation screens — Audible instructs you to keep selecting Continue to cancel until you reach the cancel confirmation page.
  • An offer to pause a monthly membership instead of canceling: up to 90 days once every 12 months, with annual memberships excluded.
  • An offer to switch to a lower tier such as Audible Plus or Standard rather than cancel outright.
  • Loss framing before you confirm: warnings that unused credits are forfeited at the end of the final billing cycle and that Plus Catalog access, member discounts and exclusive promotions all end.
  • Cancellation is web-only — there is no cancel control inside the Audible mobile app, and Audible notes that deleting the app does not cancel anything.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Audible sends a confirmation email once you reach the final cancel confirmation page — keep it as proof of the cancellation date.
  • Audiobooks you already got with credits, a credit card or a debit card stay in your library permanently and can be re-downloaded.
  • Unused membership credits are forfeited at the end of your final billing cycle; Audible notes credits tied to an App Store or Google Play subscription as an exception that does not expire.
  • Access to Plus Catalog included titles and podcasts ends and those titles become locked.
  • Member discounts and exclusive member promotions end with the final billing cycle.

Refund notes

  • Audible's cancellation articles do not document a self-serve refund of a membership fee, and there is no documented mid-cycle proration — the membership simply runs to the end of the billing cycle. If you believe you were charged in error, raise it with Audible customer service through audible.com/contactus.

FAQ

Can I cancel Audible Plus in the Audible app?

No. Audible's help center says deleting the Audible app will not cancel a membership, and it only documents cancellation through the Audible desktop site or Audible mobile web. Open audible.com in a browser, sign in, then go to Account details and select Cancel membership.

What happens to my Plus Catalog titles when I cancel Audible Plus?

Audible states that access to Plus Catalog included titles and podcasts ends — those titles become locked once the membership ends. Audiobooks you separately bought with credits, a credit card or a debit card stay in your library permanently and can still be re-downloaded.

I signed up for Audible Plus through the App Store or Google Play — where do I cancel?

In that store, not on Audible's site. Audible states that memberships billed through Apple or Google cannot be canceled through the Audible site. For Google Play, Audible's documented path is Play Store, profile icon, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Audible, Cancel subscription, then give a reason and select Continue.

Can I pause Audible Plus instead of canceling?

Audible documents a pause option as an alternative to canceling: monthly plans can be paused for up to 90 days once every 12 months. Annual memberships are not eligible. Pausing is one of the alternatives Audible surfaces before you reach the final cancellation confirmation.

Do I lose my unused credits when I cancel Audible Plus?

Audible says unused membership credits are forfeited at the end of your final billing cycle. It calls out one exception: credits tied to an App Store or Google Play subscription are described as not expiring. Anything you already redeemed for an audiobook is yours to keep.
