How to cancel Alarm.com

Alarm.com is sold, serviced and billed by an independent local provider, not by Alarm.com itself — it states it does not directly sell to, support or bill end-customers. Cancel with that provider: find their support number in the Alarm.com app under menu, then Support. Alarm.com's FAQ also says to return all equipment to your provider.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

Contract / fees
Alarm.com's Terms & Conditions say only that products bought "from an independently owned and operated service provider" are governed by "the Alarm.com Terms that you accepted upon activating your subscriber account" — the page names no dealer agreement and contains no cancellation or refund section. Term length, any early-termination charge and any written-notice requirement are therefore unpublished by Alarm.com and vary by provider, so ask yours for a copy of what you signed before you call. One obligation Alarm.com does publish: its FAQ says that if you no longer want your Alarm.com system, return all your equipment to your service provider, and reach out to that provider if you want to recycle it.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel through your Alarm.com service provider

  1. 1

Open the Alarm.com app and select the menu button in the upper left corner.

  2. 2

Select "Support" — this shows the support number for the service provider that installed and bills your system.

  3. 3

Contact that provider directly to end service. Alarm.com's FAQ states your service provider handles all of your billing and service plan changes, and separately that "we do not directly sell to, support or bill end-customers."

  4. 4

Ask for the cancellation terms in the agreement you accepted at activation: term length, any early-termination charge and any required written notice. Alarm.com's own Terms & Conditions page contains no cancellation or refund section at all, so these figures exist only in your provider's agreement.

  5. 5

Arrange equipment return. Alarm.com's FAQ says that if you no longer want your Alarm.com system you should return all your equipment to your service provider, and to reach out to the provider if you want to recycle it.

  6. 6

Get written confirmation of the cancellation and the last day monitoring stays active.

If you cannot reach your service provider

  1. 1

Email info@alarm.com with the name on the account, the email(s) on the account, the phone number(s) on the account and the zip code for the account, and note any difficulties you have encountered — this is the exact list Alarm.com's FAQ asks for when you cannot reach your service provider.

  2. 2

Alarm.com's contact page adds: if you have trouble reaching your service provider, contact Alarm.com with the support number listed on your app, or email wecare@alarm.com.

  3. 3

If you need to phone Alarm.com, its FAQ gives 1-800-495-7621 for help identifying or reaching your provider. Check the current number on the contact page before calling.

  4. 4

Treat all of this only as a way to locate your provider. Alarm.com states it does not directly sell to, support or bill end-customers, so it cannot stop the provider's billing on your behalf.

Moving? Ask about transfer before you cancel

  1. 1

Alarm.com says to contact your service provider as soon as possible before you move.

  2. 2

Ask whether your existing system can move with you — Alarm.com states that depending on your location and home you may be able to transfer the old system, but the provider must confirm your options.

  3. 3

Confirm in writing how a transfer affects the remaining term on your agreement before you commit either way.

Expect a retention offer

  • No self-serve cancellation exists on Alarm.com — every billing and service plan change routes through a live conversation with the service provider that sells you monitoring.
  • Alarm.com does not publish your cancellation terms anywhere: its Terms & Conditions page has no cancellation or refund section, so ask your provider for a copy of what you accepted at activation rather than hearing the terms for the first time on the phone.
  • Alarm.com runs your account and app but says it does not bill end-customers, so contacting Alarm.com sends you back to the provider — budget for two contacts if you start in the wrong place.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Alarm.com does not publish an end-of-service date — when monitoring and app access stop is set by your service provider, so get the final date in writing.
  • Return your equipment: Alarm.com's FAQ says that if you no longer want your Alarm.com system you should return all your equipment to your service provider, and to reach out to the provider if you want to recycle it.
  • Alarm.com states it does not bill end-customers, so any refund or proration is the service provider's decision.
  • Term length and any early-termination charge come from your provider — Alarm.com's own Terms & Conditions page contains no cancellation or refund section.
  • Moving rather than cancelling: Alarm.com says to contact your service provider as soon as possible before you move, as some systems can transfer to the new home.

Refund notes

  • Alarm.com states it does not directly sell to, support or bill end-customers, and its Terms & Conditions page contains no refund section at all. Any refund or proration is your service provider's decision, so you have to ask them directly.

FAQ

Can I cancel Alarm.com directly on alarm.com?

No. Alarm.com's FAQ routes every billing and service plan change to your service provider, and there is no self-serve cancellation on the site or in the app. Alarm.com says outright that it does not directly sell to, support or bill end-customers, so the company running your app is not the company charging you.

Who actually bills me for Alarm.com monitoring?

An independently owned and operated service provider — the dealer that installed your system. Alarm.com's FAQ states that your service provider handles all of your billing and service plan changes, and that Alarm.com does not directly sell to, support or bill end-customers. That provider is who you must contact to stop the charge.

How do I find out which service provider to contact about my Alarm.com system?

Open the Alarm.com app, select the menu button in the upper left corner, then select Support — your provider's support number appears there. If you have trouble reaching them, Alarm.com's contact page says to contact Alarm.com using the support number listed in your app or email wecare@alarm.com; its FAQ asks you to email info@alarm.com with the name, email addresses, phone numbers and zip code on the account.

Do I have to return my equipment when I cancel Alarm.com?

Yes. Alarm.com's FAQ says that if you no longer want your Alarm.com system you should return all your equipment to your service provider, and to reach out to that provider if you want to recycle existing equipment. Confirm with the provider what has to go back and by when, and keep proof of the return.

Does Alarm.com publish a contract length or early termination fee?

No. Alarm.com's Terms & Conditions say only that products bought from an independently owned and operated service provider are governed by the Alarm.com Terms you accepted upon activating your subscriber account — the page contains no cancellation or refund section. Term length, early-termination charges and notice requirements come from your provider, so ask them for a copy of your agreement.
