How to cancel YouTube TV

YouTube TV cancels online: open Settings, then Membership, click Manage, then Cancel membership and confirm. Access runs to the end of your current payment period, and recordings in your library expire 21 days later. Google says it gives no refunds or credits for partial billing periods. Play-billed and carrier-billed memberships are managed differently.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

Contract / fees
YouTube TV documents no minimum term, no notice period and no early termination fee — its help page states you can cancel or pause your membership at any time. The only term-like catch is promotional pricing: YouTube TV says if you are on a promotional price and switch plans you lose the promotion, and that if you choose to restart your membership you may not be eligible for promotional prices and may not have access to previous recordings. Canceling the YouTube TV plan also cancels all add-on networks.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel on a computer or mobile web browser (works on any device, including iPhone and iPad)

  1. 1

Go to tv.youtube.com in a web browser and sign in with the Google account that pays for the membership.

  2. 2

    Select your profile photo.

  3. 3

    Go to Settings, then Membership.

  4. 4

    Click Manage.

  5. 5

Click Cancel membership, then click Cancel to confirm.

  6. 6

YouTube TV states that when you cancel you will still have access to YouTube TV until the end of your payment period.

  7. 7

If you bought add-on networks, YouTube TV notes you can also remove those individually — but canceling the YouTube TV plan cancels all add-ons as well.

Cancel in the YouTube TV app on Android

  1. 1

Open the YouTube TV app on your Android device.

  2. 2

    Select your profile photo.

  3. 3

    Go to Settings, then Membership.

  4. 4

    Click Manage.

  5. 5

    Click Cancel membership, then Cancel.

Pause instead of canceling (4 weeks to 6 months)

  1. 1

Go to tv.youtube.com in a web browser and select your profile photo.

  2. 2

Go to Settings, then Membership, then click Manage.

  3. 3

Use the slider to choose how many weeks you would like to pause — YouTube TV allows from 4 weeks up to 6 months.

  4. 4

    Click Pause.

  5. 5

YouTube TV says the membership is paused after the end of your current billing cycle, and that you keep access until the end of your payment period.

  6. 6

YouTube TV states that when your paused state ends you will be charged at your normal monthly price, and that date becomes your new billing date.

  7. 7

Recordings are saved until the end of the paused state, though YouTube TV says they remain subject to its standard nine-month expiration date.

If your YouTube TV membership is billed through Google Play

  1. 1

YouTube TV states that with Google Play billing you cannot pause your membership — instead you can cancel your membership and sign up again at any time.

  2. 2

Review the charge at payments.google.com to confirm the membership is billed through Google Play.

  3. 3

Cancel the YouTube TV subscription from your Google Play subscriptions.

  4. 4

For money back, YouTube TV points these memberships to Google Play's refund policies rather than to its own refund process.

If you pay for YouTube TV through your mobile carrier or internet provider

  1. 1

YouTube TV says customers of select mobile carriers or internet providers can pay for YouTube TV through their service provider.

  2. 2

YouTube TV states that you can't currently pause a YouTube TV plan billed this way.

  3. 3

To stop it, YouTube TV directs you to its standard cancel steps: tv.youtube.com, profile photo, Settings, Membership, Manage, Cancel membership.

  4. 4

YouTube TV warns that if you cancel through YouTube TV and decide to re-sign up, you'll be billed through Google billing instead of your mobile carrier or internet provider.

  5. 5

For refunds, YouTube TV states that it cannot grant a refund on provider-billed memberships and that your provider's refund policies will apply — so take money-back questions to the carrier or ISP.

If you want YouTube TV access to end right away rather than at the period end

  1. 1

Cancel first using the standard path: profile photo, Settings, Membership, Manage, Cancel membership.

  2. 2

YouTube TV states that canceling does not immediately remove your access to the service, even during a free trial period.

  3. 3

YouTube TV says that if you'd like to cancel and remove access to YouTube TV right away, you should get in touch with its support team.

  4. 4

Reach YouTube TV support through the Help option in the YouTube TV app, or at support.google.com/youtubetv/gethelp.

Expect a retention offer

  • The Manage membership screen presents a pause slider (4 weeks up to 6 months) alongside the cancel option, so pausing is offered as an alternative to canceling rather than as a separate flow.
  • YouTube TV notes it saves your library preferences in case you want to re-sign up later, while recorded programs expire after 21 days — a countdown that pressures you to come back.
  • YouTube TV warns that if you are on a promotional price and switch plans you lose the promotion, and that if you restart your membership you may not be eligible for promotional prices and may not have access to previous recordings.
  • There is no in-app cancel path on iPhone or iPad — YouTube TV's iOS help page sends you to a computer or mobile web browser instead.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • You keep access to YouTube TV until the end of your current payment period — cancellation does not cut you off on the spot.
  • Recorded programs in your library expire after 21 days. YouTube TV says it saves your library preferences in case you want to re-sign up later.
  • Canceling the YouTube TV plan cancels all add-on networks along with it.
  • Canceling does not remove access right away even during a free trial period; YouTube TV says to contact its support team if you want access removed immediately.
  • If you restart your membership later, YouTube TV says you may not be eligible for promotional prices and may not have access to previous recordings.
  • If your membership was billed through a mobile carrier or internet provider and you cancel through YouTube TV, YouTube TV says a later re-signup will be billed through Google billing instead of your provider.

Refund notes

  • YouTube TV's refund page states: "We do not give refunds or credits for partial billing periods." You can request a refund if features included with your membership are defective or do not perform as stated, and YouTube TV notes that if you're granted a refund you'll lose access to YouTube TV immediately. Credit card refunds are described as typically taking 3-5 business days, sometimes up to 10. If you subscribe through your mobile carrier or internet provider, YouTube TV says it cannot grant a refund and your provider's refund policies apply. Google Play-billed memberships are directed to Google Play's refund policies.

FAQ

Can I cancel YouTube TV online, or do I have to call?

You can do it entirely online. YouTube TV Help documents a self-serve path: go to tv.youtube.com in a browser (or open the app on Android), select your profile photo, go to Settings then Membership, click Manage, then Cancel membership and Cancel. No phone call or chat is required. Calling YouTube TV support is only needed if you want your access shut off immediately rather than at the end of the payment period.

What happens to my YouTube TV recordings and DVR library after I cancel?

YouTube TV states that recorded programs in your library will expire after 21 days once you cancel, and that it saves your library preferences in case you want to re-sign up later. Its plans documentation also warns that if you choose to restart your membership you may not have access to previous recordings. If you pause instead, recordings are saved until the end of the paused state, though they remain subject to YouTube TV's standard nine-month expiration.

Can I pause YouTube TV instead of canceling, and for how long?

Yes, on most memberships. From Settings then Membership then Manage, YouTube TV gives you a slider to choose a pause from 4 weeks up to 6 months. The pause begins after the end of your current billing cycle. YouTube TV says that when the paused state ends you will be charged at your normal monthly price and that date becomes your new billing date. Pausing is not available if your membership is billed through Google Play, or through a mobile carrier or internet provider.

Will YouTube TV refund the rest of my month if I cancel early?

No. YouTube TV's refund page states plainly that it does not give refunds or credits for partial billing periods. You keep access until the end of the payment period you already paid for. YouTube TV does allow a refund request if features included with your membership are defective or do not perform as stated, and notes that if a refund is granted you lose access to YouTube TV immediately. If you subscribe through a mobile carrier or internet provider, YouTube TV says it cannot grant a refund and your provider's refund policies apply.

How do I cancel YouTube TV on an iPhone or iPad?

YouTube TV's iPhone and iPad help page does not offer an in-app cancel button — it routes you to a computer or mobile web browser, where you select your profile photo, go to Settings then Membership, then Manage and Cancel membership. There is also no Apple subscription path to check: YouTube TV stopped accepting Apple in-app purchase billing in March 2020, so a current membership will not appear in your iPhone's Apple subscriptions list.
