How to cancel Tastecard

Cancel a UK tastecard in its own app: More > Manage subscription > Manage membership > Cancel membership, before your renewal date. Members without app access use the support form, setting the enquiry reason to Cancellation Request. Access runs to the end of the term you are in, and earlier payments are not refunded.

Can you cancel online?
yes
Where to start
The tastecard app: the "More" tab, then "Manage subscription". Members who cannot log in use the support form at faqs.tastecard.co.uk/s/contactsupport instead
Apple or Google billed?
Not commonly documented
Keeps access until
The end of the membership term you are in when tastecard receives the request. Its cancellation article says the membership expires at the end of that term, and that access ends on the term end date at the time the request is received. The exception is a free trial, where tastecard says access to the discounts ends immediately.
Contract / fees
Tastecard's terms and conditions describe a rolling contract with a specific opt-out mechanism: "your membership is continuous and will automatically renew on your renewal date for the agreed reoccurring term unless you notify us via our in app cancellation process, further details of which are available under our FAQs." The terms say membership reminders are issued for annual renewing products only, to the email registered to the account, and that your renewal or expiry date is shown in the account section of the mobile app. They also say a membership will not automatically renew if you were not required to enter payment details when you subscribed. On money, the terms say "[r]efunds or credits are not provided if you cancel your membership within the current term", that pro-rata charges may apply if you upgrade or cancel before the next payment is due, and that price changes apply no earlier than 14 days after notice and take effect on your next payment date, with cancellation before the change as the way to refuse it. Memberships set up through an employee benefits scheme are handled differently: tastecard says to contact your HR team directly within 14 days of sign-up.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

If you can log in to the tastecard app

  1. 1

Update to the most recent version of the tastecard app and log in.

  2. 2

Open the "More" tab, then "Manage subscription".

  3. 3

Tap "Manage membership" under the subscription you want to end.

  4. 4

Tap "Cancel membership" and work through the steps telling tastecard why you are cancelling.

  5. 5

Finalise by tapping "Cancel membership" again.

  6. 6

Check your inbox for the confirmation email, which tastecard says states the date the membership will end — without it, the cancellation has not gone through.

  • Do this before your renewal date. Tastecard says the membership then expires at the end of the term you are in at the point it receives the request.
  • If the "Manage subscription" page shows an access end date instead of a cancel button, or the button is missing, tastecard says the membership will not renew or has already been cancelled.

If you cannot get into the app

  1. 1

Go to tastecard's support form at faqs.tastecard.co.uk/s/contactsupport.

  2. 2

Set the enquiry reason to "Cancellation Request" — tastecard's article calls this field the "Query Type", but the live form labels it "Enquiry Reason" and "Cancellation Request" is one of its options. Tastecard asks for this so the request is handled as quickly as possible.

  3. 3

Send it from the email address the membership is registered to, which tastecard says makes verifying your account much quicker.

  4. 4

Include as much detail about the membership as you can so the team can identify the account.

  5. 5

Keep the reply confirming the cancellation and the date the membership ends.

  • Tastecard's cancellation article names this route specifically for members who do not have access to the app, and also for anyone who cannot log in.
  • The article also says that if you hit a problem cancelling in the app, you can use "Contact us" inside the app to reach the team.

If your tastecard came through an employee benefits scheme

  1. 1

Do not use the in-app cancellation — tastecard says the app steps are for customers who pay it directly.

  2. 2

Contact your own HR team about the Employee Benefit subscription.

  3. 3

Do it within 14 days of sign-up, which is the window tastecard states for this route.

  4. 4

Ask HR to confirm in writing that the benefit subscription has been stopped.

  5. 5

Check the app to see whether the membership now shows an access end date rather than a live renewal.

  • Tastecard's terms add that memberships created in association with a third-party offer are governed by the agreement between tastecard and that third party, and can be revoked if the offer ends.

Expect a retention offer

  • Tastecard's own cancel-membership web page is a retention page rather than a cancellation form. It opens by saying it is sad to see members go, compares the membership against a TV subscription and a gym membership, sets out estimated annual savings, and only at the end tells you to head to the app to actually cancel.
  • The in-app flow puts a reason-for-leaving step between the first "Cancel membership" tap and the final one, so the cancellation is not a single confirmation.
  • Cancellation is documented in the app and through a support form; there is no cancel button on the tastecard website itself.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

I tapped cancel in the app but got an error message.

Check the date. Tastecard says cancellation is blocked for a brief period on the morning of your renewal date while the renewal is processed, and that an error message is what you see if you try then. If it is not your renewal day, tastecard says to use "Contact us" in the app to reach the team, or the support form with the enquiry reason set to "Cancellation Request".

I cannot log in to the tastecard app to cancel.

Tastecard's article covers this: if you cannot log in you must contact the Customer Service Team directly. Use the support form at faqs.tastecard.co.uk/s/contactsupport, set the enquiry reason to "Cancellation Request", and send it from the email address the membership is registered to — tastecard says that makes verifying the account much quicker.

There is no cancel button on my subscription in the app.

That is usually good news rather than a fault. Tastecard says that if your subscription shows an access end date in place of the cancellation button, or the button is absent from the "Manage subscription" page, the membership will not renew or has already been cancelled. Confirm the end date shown, and check your card statement around that date.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Future payments stop. Tastecard says it enacts the cancellation from the date it receives it.
  • Your discounts keep working until the end of the membership term you were in when the request arrived — the confirmation email states that date.
  • A cancelled free trial is the exception: access to the discounts ends immediately.
  • The "Manage subscription" page should then show an access end date rather than a cancel button. Tastecard describes that as the signal the membership will not renew.
  • Check your card statement around the old renewal date to be sure nothing was collected.

Refund notes

  • Tastecard's cancellation article says payments taken prior to a cancellation request being received are not eligible for refunds.
  • Its terms say refunds or credits are not provided if you cancel your membership within the current term, and that pro-rata charges may apply if you upgrade or cancel before your next payment is due.
  • On the statutory cooling-off period, the terms say that under the consumer cancellation regulations you have 14 days from the day you agree to the terms to cancel, that the service is provided from the time of subscription, and that cancelling within that period entitles you to a refund of the subscription fee — while reserving the right to charge for any services consumed during those 14 days.
  • The terms add that the 14-day statutory cooling-off period applies only to the initial agreement and does not extend to subsequent renewal or recurring payments.

FAQ

How do I cancel my tastecard membership in the UK?

In the tastecard app, before your renewal date. Tastecard's cancellation article says to log in to the app, open the "More" tab then "Manage subscription", tap "Manage membership" under the subscription you want to cancel, click "Cancel membership" and follow the steps explaining why you are cancelling, then finalise it by clicking "Cancel membership" again. If you cannot log in, its article routes you to the Customer Service Team instead.

How do I know my tastecard cancellation actually worked?

By the email. Tastecard says that on completing the process it sends a confirmation email confirming your cancellation and the date the membership will end, and that if you don't receive an email confirming your cancellation you have not cancelled your membership. It also says the "Manage subscription" page will show an access end date in place of the cancellation button once the membership is no longer renewing.

Can I cancel a tastecard on the day it renews?

Not reliably. Tastecard says you will be unable to cancel your subscription for a brief period on the morning of your renewal date while the renewal is processed, and that trying at that point produces an error message because the membership settings are being amended. Its terms require you to notify it through the in-app cancellation process before the renewal date, so leave a clear margin.

Will tastecard refund the payment I have just been charged?

No. Tastecard's cancellation article says payments taken prior to a cancellation request being received are not eligible for refunds, and its terms say refunds or credits are not provided if you cancel within the current term. What cancelling does is stop future payments, with your access running to the end of the term you are in when the request is received.

How do I cancel a tastecard I got through my employer?

Through your employer, not the app. Tastecard says that to cancel Employee Benefit subscriptions you should contact your HR team directly within 14 days of sign-up, and that the in-app steps are for customers who pay tastecard directly. Its terms add that memberships created alongside a third-party offer are governed by the agreement between tastecard and that third party.

Is there a cancel button on the tastecard website?

No. Tastecard's cancel-membership web page makes the case for staying — comparing the membership with other subscriptions and setting out potential savings — and then tells you to head to the tastecard app to cancel your membership. The documented routes are the in-app cancellation process and, for members without app access, the support form with the enquiry reason set to "Cancellation Request".
