How to cancel Retro Fitness

Retro Fitness lets you cancel four ways: online through Manage Membership, in person with a signed letter to your home gym manager, by phone, or by email to your club or mx@retrofitness.com. Cancellations take effect in seven days — three in New York — and any payment due in that window is processed.

Contract / fees
Retro Fitness documents three membership shapes with very different exits. A month-to-month contract can be cancelled at any time. An installment plan that is anything other than month-to-month requires you to complete the payments outlined in your agreement before cancelling, unless otherwise permitted by law. Paid in Full memberships are stated to be full term with no refunds. There is a Cooling-Off Period: cancel within three (3) business days of signing up and Retro Fitness states you can do so without any penalties. Cancellations generally require seven (7) days' notice, but for members in New York state, cancellations require only three (3) days' notice.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • The cancellation takes effect seven (7) days after it is received, or three (3) days for members in New York state.
  • Any payment that comes due inside that notice window is still processed, so budget for one more charge if you cancelled close to a billing date.
  • If you were on an installment plan other than month-to-month, the remaining payments in your agreement still have to be completed unless the law in your state says otherwise.
  • A Paid in Full membership runs its full term and is not refunded.
  • Keep whatever record your channel produced — the signed and dated letter, the sent email to mx@retrofitness.com, or the confirmation from the online flow — since the effective date is counted from receipt.

Refund notes

  • Retro Fitness documents one refund-shaped protection and one hard limit. The protection is the Cooling-Off Period: if you cancel within three (3) business days of signing up, you can do so without any penalties, using any of the cancellation methods. The limit is that Paid in Full memberships are full term with no refunds. Outside the cooling-off window there is no documented proration — instead, a payment falling inside the seven-day notice period is explicitly still processed.

FAQ

Can I cancel Retro Fitness online, or do I have to go into the gym?

You can do it online. Retro Fitness states you can now cancel directly through its website: click the "Manage Membership" button on the main page, log into your account, head to the cancellation section, and follow the steps. In-person, phone and email routes remain available if you would rather have a person confirm it.

How many days' notice does Retro Fitness require to cancel?

Seven days generally — Retro Fitness states cancellations take effect in seven (7) days. Members in New York state get a shorter window: cancellations there require only three (3) days' notice. Either way, a payment falling due inside that period is still processed.

Will Retro Fitness still charge me after I cancel?

Possibly once more. Retro Fitness documents that cancellations take effect in seven (7) days and that if you have a payment due during that period, it will be processed. So cancelling shortly before your billing date does not stop that charge — build the seven days in ahead of it.

What is the Retro Fitness cooling-off period if I just joined?

Retro Fitness documents a Cooling-Off Period: if you decide to cancel within three (3) business days of signing up, you can do so without any penalties. You use any of the normal cancellation methods to do it — online, in person, by phone, or by email.

Can I cancel a Retro Fitness installment or Paid in Full membership early?

Not freely. Retro Fitness states that if your membership program is an installment plan with anything other than month-to-month, you need to complete the payments outlined in your agreement before cancelling, unless otherwise permitted by law. Paid in Full memberships are full term with no refunds. Only month-to-month contracts can be cancelled at any time.
