Stop recurring member dues charged by a Meetup group (separate from your subscription)

Meetup publishes a subscription refund policy (updated November 13, 2025) with refund windows measured from the plan period start date: 20 days for weekly plans, 20 days for monthly plans, and 60 days for yearly plans, each applying even if you are on a trial. Only the most recent initial subscription or renewal fee is eligible, unless additional charges occur inside the same window. Refunds are request-based rather than a self-serve button. Meetup states refunds will not be issued if you downgrade your plan (downgrades take effect at the end of the current period with no refund or credit), if the request falls outside the window, if you received a subscription refund within the preceding 8 months, or if you purchased through the Apple App Store — Apple handles those refunds under its own Terms of Sale. EU residents have a documented 14-day withdrawal right, exercised with a "Withdraw now and get a refund" button that appears under the plan details in Organizer Subscription or Meetup+ Subscription settings for 14 days after the subscription start date. Does canceling my Meetup Organizer subscription delete my groups?

Not immediately. Meetup documents that your subscription stays active until its scheduled expiration date, then your organizer account enters a 15-day grace period during which you can reprocess payment or step down and nominate a new organizer. When the grace period ends you are stepped down, and Meetup invites your leadership members and then all members to take over. If nobody volunteers, the group closes automatically within 15 days after the grace period ends. Meetup states closed groups cannot be revived or reinstated.

I canceled my Meetup subscription but a Meetup group still charged my card — why?

Member dues are separate from your Organizer or Meetup+ subscription. Meetup documents that organizers can set recurring dues that bill the payment method saved in your profile, and canceling a subscription does not stop them. Check the Payments Made section of your settings under "Member Dues." To stop future dues, Meetup says to open the group's homepage and click or tap Leave Group. Meetup also lists other causes: a charge that posted before you canceled, a second account with an active subscription, or a retry of an earlier failed payment.

Can I get a refund after canceling a Meetup subscription?
