How to cancel Loom

Loom cancels on the web. Open Workspace Settings, go to Plan & Billing, choose Manage Subscription, then Downgrade to Starter, pick a reason and complete the cancellation. Atlassian-integrated accounts cancel from Atlassian Admin > Billing instead. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle, and your videos stay accessible.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

If you manage the plan inside Loom (legacy, non-Atlassian workspace)

  1. 1

Navigate to Workspace Settings from the left sidebar of your Loom account.

  2. 2

Select the Plan & Billing tab.

  3. 3

Under your account, select Manage Subscription.

  4. 4

    Select Downgrade to Starter.

  5. 5

Select your downgrade reason and select Complete cancellation.

  • Loom states that cancellation occurs at the end of your billing cycle — the Starter limits only apply from that date.

If your Loom account is integrated with Atlassian

  1. 1

Navigate to the Atlassian Admin portal from the left sidebar of your Loom account and select Billing — Loom says you'll be routed to the centralized Atlassian Administration hub at admin.atlassian.com.

  2. 2

Select Subscriptions and find your Loom subscription — if you have more than one, note the Transaction Account ID so you pick the right entitlement.

  3. 3

Select Manage for the correct Loom subscription entitlement, then select the Loom subscription to open its details.

  4. 4

Select the menu button and choose Deactivate.

  5. 5

Choose a cancellation reason and select Continue, then choose whether to downgrade to Starter or continue cancelling.

  6. 6

Select Cancel subscription on the final confirmation screen.

  • Loom's documentation says how you downgrade or cancel depends on whether your account is managed by legacy systems or Atlassian systems. Loom says an integrated account shows a "Your Profile is linked to Atlassian" message at the top of Personal Settings.
  • Loom states that only Atlassian billing admins and Atlassian organization admins can cancel Atlassian-managed Loom subscriptions.

If you only want to stop auto-renewal on Business or Business+ AI

  1. 1

Go to your Plan and Billing page via Workspace Settings.

  2. 2

    Select Manage Subscription.

  3. 3

Choose Cancel Subscription and complete the downgrade process.

  4. 4

Loom states that once completed, you keep access to your current plan until the end of your billing cycle, after which the workspace downgrades automatically.

  • Changed your mind? Loom says to return to the Plan and Billing page, select Manage Subscription, then choose Cancel my downgrade to restore automatic renewal.

Expect a retention offer

  • Loom's flow requires you to select a downgrade reason before it will complete the cancellation.
  • The Atlassian Admin path interrupts the cancellation with an option to downgrade to Starter instead before you can continue to a full cancellation.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

You cannot find any cancellation option in Loom's Workspace Settings.

Check Personal Settings first — Loom says an account integrated with Atlassian shows a "Your Profile is linked to Atlassian" message at the top. Those subscriptions are cancelled at admin.atlassian.com: select Billing, then Subscriptions, select Manage on the Loom entitlement, open the subscription, then use the menu and choose Deactivate. Loom says only Atlassian billing admins and organization admins can do this.

You cancelled but a charge still appeared afterwards.

Loom documents that prorated charges for any new members you added or upgraded since your last billing date are charged in your next billing cycle. Check the invoice line items against seat changes made during the cycle you just ended.

You are on Starter and cannot record anything new.

Loom's Starter plan has a 25-video limit and a 5-minute recording limit. Loom says existing videos over that count stay accessible, but you must delete videos or upgrade before you can record again.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Your paid plan stays active until the end of the current billing cycle; Loom says you won't be charged anymore upon renewal — apart from prorated charges for any members added or upgraded since your last bill, which are charged in your next billing cycle.
  • On Starter, Loom documents a 5-minute recording limit and a 25-video limit.
  • Loom says you will still have access to all your videos even if you have more than 25, but you cannot create new recordings until you upgrade again or delete videos.
  • Engagement Insights are no longer available, all video share pages are restored to default settings (custom branding is removed), and Single Sign-On is disabled.
  • You cannot create new spaces, although existing spaces remain accessible.
  • Workspace members stay in the workspace and keep the same roles, but Loom says all members are limited to the recording, editing and sharing capabilities of a Creator Lite role, with up to 50 Creator Lites in a Starter free workspace.

Refund notes

  • Loom's downgrade article documents no refund for the remainder of a term — it states that cancellation occurs at the end of your billing cycle and that you keep your current plan until then. It also notes that prorated charges for members added or upgraded since your last billing date bill in the next cycle.

FAQ

How do I cancel my Loom subscription without an Atlassian account?

Use Loom's own settings. Open Workspace Settings from the left sidebar, select the Plan & Billing tab, choose Manage Subscription under your account, select Downgrade to Starter, then pick a reason and select Complete cancellation. The cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle.

Do I lose my Loom videos when I downgrade to the Starter plan?

No. Loom states you will still have access to all your videos even if you have more than the 25-video Starter limit. What you lose is the ability to record new videos until you upgrade again or delete some, plus a 5-minute cap on new recordings.

Why is there no Cancel button in Loom's Plan & Billing settings?

Loom frames cancellation as a downgrade. Under Manage Subscription the control is labelled Downgrade to Starter, and completing that flow ends the paid subscription. On Atlassian-integrated accounts the equivalent control is Deactivate, in Atlassian Admin > Billing > Subscriptions.

How do I turn off auto-renewal on a Loom Business or Business+ AI subscription?

Go to your Plan and Billing page via Workspace Settings, select Manage Subscription, then choose Cancel Subscription and complete the downgrade. Loom says you keep your current plan until the end of the billing cycle. To restore auto-renewal, return to the same page and choose Cancel my downgrade.

Does Loom refund the rest of my billing cycle when I cancel?

Loom's cancellation documentation does not describe a refund. It states that cancellation occurs at the end of your billing cycle and that you keep your current plan until then. It also notes prorated charges for members added or upgraded since your last billing date are charged in your next cycle.
