How to cancel GoDaddy

GoDaddy cancellations happen online: go to Renewals and Billing, open Manage Subscriptions, pick the product, then Turn off Auto-Renew, choose a reason and Confirm Cancel. You keep access until the date shown, then the product and its data are deleted. Refunds are separate — request them by phone, text or chat, only within GoDaddy's refund window.

Keeps access until
Turning off auto-renew keeps the product working until the cancellation date GoDaddy displays on the confirmation screen — normally the end of the paid term. After that date the product and all associated data are deleted. Choosing Delete instead ends access immediately, with no credit for unused time.
Contract / fees
GoDaddy sells prepaid terms (monthly, annual and multi-year); cancelling ends renewal rather than refunding the remaining term. No early-termination fee is documented for standard subscriptions, but GoDaddy's refund policy does list cancellation fees on some done-for-you services: Website Services build fees carry a 30% cancellation fee while in progress and 70% once the design is delivered for review, and Commerce Website Support Service carries 30% if no hours were used and 70% if less than half were used. Subscriptions that bundle several products cannot be cancelled or refunded product-by-product. If a purchase included a bundled domain, the domain's list price is deducted from any refund.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Turn off auto-renew and keep the product until the term ends

  1. 1

Sign in to GoDaddy and go to your Renewals and Billing page at account.godaddy.com/myrenewals, then select Manage Subscriptions.

  2. 2

Select the product you want to cancel, then select Turn off Auto-Renew.

  3. 3

Choose a reason for cancelling the auto-renewal from the list, then select Continue to Cancel.

  4. 4

Under "Confirm your cancellation", check the date GoDaddy shows — you can keep using the product until that date, after which the product and all associated data are deleted.

  5. 5

Select Confirm Cancel to turn off auto-renew for that subscription.

  6. 6

If you are cancelling a domain with Domain Protection, complete the identity check: select Yes, Delete this product, then Verify and delete, and enter the code sent by SMS or authenticator app (or the one-time password sent to your account email).

  7. 7

Note: if auto-renew cannot be turned off for a domain, GoDaddy says the domain may be pending updates — it must be in active status before the setting can change.

Delete the product from your account immediately

  1. 1

Go to your Renewals and Billing page and select Manage Subscriptions.

  2. 2

Select the product you want to delete. If it is not set to auto-renew, select Delete and skip to the email confirmation step.

  3. 3

If the product is set to auto-renew, select Turn off Auto-Renew, choose a cancellation reason, select Continue to Cancel, then select Click here.

  4. 4

Tick the checkbox acknowledging that you must open the confirmation email and select "Yes, I want to delete", then select Send email.

  5. 5

Open GoDaddy's "Are you sure?" email and select "Yes, I Want to Delete!" — you are returned to your account.

  6. 6

Select Delete product. GoDaddy confirms the product was deleted.

  7. 7

Warning from GoDaddy: once a product is deleted you can no longer use it and it might not be recoverable, even if there is time remaining in the subscription.

Request a refund (phone, text or chat only)

  1. 1

Check your eligibility against GoDaddy's refund policy first — annual plans within 30 days (720 hours) of the transaction, monthly plans within 48 hours, with separate windows for domains and many products listed as non-refundable.

  2. 2

Delete the product, service or domain you want refunded — GoDaddy will not refund a product still held in the account.

  3. 3

Contact GoDaddy Guides by phone (1-480-366-3550, 24/7), text (1-480-908-8665) or chat and ask for the refund. GoDaddy states refund requests received by email will not be processed.

  4. 4

Request the refund before closing your GoDaddy account — once the account is closed you are no longer eligible for a refund.

  5. 5

If you are not eligible, GoDaddy recommends turning off auto-renew instead and using the product until the end of the subscription.

Subscriptions billed through the Apple App Store

  1. 1

GoDaddy states that trials and subscription billing for app store purchases are managed by Apple, and cancellations must be made there.

  2. 2

On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions.

  3. 3

Select the GoDaddy subscription and choose Cancel Subscription, then confirm.

  4. 4

Refunds for these purchases must also be requested from Apple, not GoDaddy.

Subscriptions billed through Google Play

  1. 1

GoDaddy states that subscriptions purchased in Google Play are managed there, and any changes or cancellations must be made in the store.

  2. 2

Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

  3. 3

Select the GoDaddy subscription and tap Cancel subscription, then follow the prompts.

  4. 4

Refunds for these purchases must be requested from Google Play, not GoDaddy.

Expect a retention offer

  • A cancellation-reason survey is required before the Continue to Cancel button appears
  • Two-stage confirmation: Continue to Cancel, then a separate Confirm your cancellation screen with a Confirm Cancel button
  • Deleting a product outright requires an emailed "Are you sure?" confirmation you must open and click, plus an acknowledgement checkbox, before the deletion can be completed
  • Refund requests cannot be made in writing by email — GoDaddy requires reaching a live Guide by phone, text or chat
  • Domains with Domain Protection trigger an extra identity verification step (SMS or authenticator code, or a one-time password) before cancelling
  • Immediate deletion forfeits any remaining paid time, and GoDaddy warns the product might not be recoverable
  • Bundled subscriptions cannot be cancelled product-by-product — changes apply to every product in the subscription

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Turning off auto-renew ends the subscription on the date GoDaddy shows during cancellation; you keep using the product until then and are not charged on the next billing date.
  • After that date the product and all associated data are deleted from your account.
  • Choosing Delete instead removes the product right away — GoDaddy warns it can no longer be used and might not be recoverable, even with time left on the subscription.
  • A cancelled domain stops being registered to you; unrenewed hosting, websites and email go away along with their files.
  • If you change your mind before the end date, GoDaddy lets you manually renew the product.
  • Once every product is deleted you can close the GoDaddy account, but request any refund first — closure ends refund eligibility.

Refund notes

  • Refunds are time-boxed and never self-serve. GoDaddy's refund policy (last revised 5/27/2026) allows annual plans within 30 days (720 hours) of the date of the transaction and monthly plans (any term under a year) within 48 hours. Domain windows differ: new registrations 5 days (120 hours), one-year auto-renewals 45 days (1,080 hours), multi-year auto-renewals and manual renewals 5 days, with many country-code exceptions. Numerous items are non-refundable, including AI Credit packs, already-performed hosting, IT, Get Started and Expert services, and pre-registration fees. You must delete the product first, then reach a GoDaddy Guide by phone, text or chat — emailed requests are not processed — and you must request it before closing your account, since account closure ends refund eligibility. Check GoDaddy's current refund policy for your specific product.

FAQ

Where do I cancel a GoDaddy subscription?

In your GoDaddy account, open the Renewals and Billing page (account.godaddy.com/myrenewals) and select Manage Subscriptions. Choose the product, select Turn off Auto-Renew, pick a cancellation reason from the list, select Continue to Cancel, then select Confirm Cancel on the confirmation screen.

Does GoDaddy delete my website or domain right away when I cancel?

Not if you turn off auto-renew. GoDaddy shows the date your subscription will end and you can keep using the product until then; after that date the product and all associated data are deleted. Choosing Delete instead removes it immediately, and GoDaddy warns it might not be recoverable even with time left on the subscription.

Can I get a refund from GoDaddy after cancelling?

Only inside GoDaddy's published refund window, and only through a GoDaddy Guide. The policy allows annual plans within 30 days (720 hours) of the transaction and monthly plans within 48 hours, with separate windows for domains. You must delete the product first, then contact support by phone, text or chat — GoDaddy states refund requests received by email will not be processed.

How do I cancel a GoDaddy subscription I bought in the App Store or Google Play?

Through that store. GoDaddy states that products or subscriptions purchased from a mobile app store are billed and managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, so any changes, cancellations or refund requests must be made in that store account rather than in the GoDaddy dashboard.

Why is GoDaddy asking me to confirm my cancellation by email?

Deleting a product outright triggers an "Are you sure?" email. You tick an acknowledgement checkbox, select Send email, open GoDaddy's message and select "Yes, I Want to Delete!", then return to your account and select Delete product. Domains with Domain Protection need an extra identity check first, via an SMS or authenticator code or a one-time password.
