How to cancel Dashlane

Dashlane cancels from the Subscription page in its browser app — but only if you paid by card on dashlane.com. App Store, Google Play and PayPal plans must be cancelled with Apple, Google or PayPal instead. A documented 30-day money-back window applies. Your vault survives cancellation but goes export-only once the paid period ends.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel in Dashlane (paid by credit card on dashlane.com)

  1. 1

Open Dashlane in a computer browser and sign in — the option appears only in the browser app, not in the Dashlane mobile apps or the macOS app, and only if you paid by credit card on dashlane.com.

  2. 2

Open the Vault menu in the top-left of the app and select Subscription.

  3. 3

On the Subscription page, select "Cancel your subscription" in the right panel.

  4. 4

On the next page, select "Continue cancellation".

  5. 5

If you are within 30 days of purchase, select "Request refund" in the right panel and then select "Confirm request" — Dashlane warns "Don't leave until you've requested your refund", because the link only appears once cancellation completes.

  6. 6

Check that the Subscription page now shows autorenewal is off and note your access end date. If you cancelled but cannot find the Request refund page, Dashlane says to use "Chat with bot" in the bottom right of its support pages.

Cancel a subscription billed by the Apple App Store

  1. 1

If you subscribed through the App Store, Dashlane cannot cancel it for you — Dashlane's cancel article says you must cancel directly with the company you paid, and links you out to Apple's instructions.

  2. 2

Follow Apple's own instructions for cancelling a subscription: on iPhone or iPad open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, select Dashlane and cancel.

  3. 3

For money back, ask Apple for a refund — Dashlane's refund article routes App Store purchases to Apple rather than handling them itself.

Cancel a subscription billed by Google Play

  1. 1

If you subscribed through Google Play, Dashlane cannot cancel it — its cancel article says to cancel directly with the company you paid and links out to Google's instructions.

  2. 2

Follow Google's own instructions for cancelling a Play subscription: open the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select Dashlane and cancel.

  3. 3

For a refund within 30 days, select "Chat with bot" in the bottom right of a Dashlane support page. Dashlane needs the Google account you use for Google Play and your transaction ID, which appears as GPA.1234-4567-8901-23456 and is on the Google receipt in your email or Play order history.

Cancel a PayPal-billed subscription

  1. 1

Dashlane cannot cancel a PayPal-billed subscription for you — Dashlane says to cancel directly with the company you paid, so you cancel the automatic payment inside PayPal.

  2. 2

Log in to your PayPal account and cancel the recurring/automatic payment set up for Dashlane, following PayPal's own instructions (Dashlane links to paypal.com/smarthelp/article/HELP240).

  3. 3

Note Dashlane's warning: unless you live in the United Kingdom you can no longer buy new Dashlane plans with PayPal, so once you cancel you will not be able to use PayPal to pay for Dashlane again.

  4. 4

Only if you also want the 30-day refund, select "Chat with bot" in the bottom right of a Dashlane support page and supply the invoice number from your PayPal receipt (found in your email or PayPal account).

  5. 5

If you have trouble cancelling, Dashlane offers help via the same "Chat with bot" widget.

Delete your Dashlane account and data (separate from cancelling)

  1. 1

Cancel your subscription first — Dashlane lists cancelling as a step to complete before deletion, and says that after deletion it cannot process refunds or look up transactions.

  2. 2

Export your data first: deletion erases all logins, Secure Notes, personal details and payment info, and Dashlane cannot recover it. Export to a CSV file or a secure DASH file.

  3. 3

On a computer you must have the Dashlane browser extension installed and be logged out of it in that browser, otherwise the deletion page redirects you to your vault.

  4. 4

Go to Dashlane's account deletion page, linked as "Go to our account deletion page" in the Delete your Dashlane account and data article, and enter the email address you use to log in.

  5. 5

Complete the security check that opens in a new tab, then enter your email verification code, 2FA token or recovery code, and select "Delete my account" and confirm.

  6. 6

You can delete from a computer or the macOS, iPad and iPhone apps, but not from the Dashlane Android app — for the in-app routes, follow the steps on the same article under the MACOS/IPAD or IPHONE tab. Uninstalling the apps on its own neither cancels nor deletes anything.

Expect a retention offer

  • A confirmation step: after selecting "Cancel your subscription" you must also select "Continue cancellation" before it takes effect
  • The refund request is a separate action taken after cancelling — the link appears in the right panel only once the cancellation is complete, which is why Dashlane's own screen warns "Don't leave until you've requested your refund"
  • The cancel option lives only in the Dashlane browser app on a computer — it is absent from the mobile apps and the macOS app, so people who only use Dashlane on a phone have to switch devices to find it
  • For Apple, Google Play and PayPal plans Dashlane links you straight out to Apple's, Google's and PayPal's own cancellation pages; the "Chat with bot" widget is what it offers for refunds and for trouble cancelling

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Autorenewal is switched off and your plan continues to the end of the current billing period.
  • You keep the data saved in your account, but once the subscription ends the vault becomes export-only — you can still sign in and export, yet you cannot add, edit, copy or view passwords inside Dashlane.
  • There is no lower tier to land on: Dashlane has discontinued its Free plan for both existing and new users.
  • Export your data before the paid period runs out if you are moving elsewhere — Dashlane supports a CSV export or a secure DASH file.
  • Cancelling and deleting your account are separate actions. Dashlane lists cancelling as something to do before deletion, and says that once the account is deleted it can no longer process refunds or look up transactions.

Refund notes

  • Dashlane documents a 30-day money-back window: request a refund within 30 days of purchase and you get the full amount back. On a website credit-card plan it is self-serve, but the "Request refund" option only appears in the right panel once the cancellation completes, and you then have to select "Confirm request" — Dashlane's own screen says "Don't leave until you've requested your refund", so do it in the same sitting. Dashlane says refunds usually arrive within 3 to 5 business days. The policy covers personal plans only, not business accounts. PayPal refunds go through Dashlane's "Chat with bot" support widget with the invoice number from your PayPal receipt; Google Play refunds go through the same chat with the Google account you pay with plus the transaction ID, which is formatted GPA.1234-4567-8901-23456; App Store purchases are refunded by Apple, not Dashlane.

FAQ

Does Dashlane have a money-back guarantee if I cancel?

Yes — Dashlane documents a 30-day window. Cancel within 30 days of your purchase and you can request the full amount back. On a website credit-card plan it is self-serve: a "Request refund" option appears in the right panel once the cancellation completes, and you confirm with "Confirm request". Dashlane says the money usually arrives in 3 to 5 business days, and the policy covers personal plans only, not business accounts.

Will cancelling Dashlane delete my passwords?

No. Dashlane says you keep the data saved in your account. But once the paid period ends the vault turns export-only — you can still sign in and export, yet you cannot add, edit, copy or view passwords inside Dashlane. Export to a CSV or a secure DASH file before the period runs out if you are switching to another manager.

Is there a free Dashlane plan to fall back on after cancelling?

No. Dashlane has discontinued its Free plan for both existing and new users, so nothing catches you at the end of a cancelled subscription. When the paid period expires the vault goes export-only rather than dropping to a limited free account, which is why exporting before the end date matters.

I deleted the Dashlane app — am I still being billed?

Almost certainly yes. Removing the app does not touch the subscription, and deleting your Dashlane account is a separate action too — Dashlane tells you to cancel before you delete, and says that once the account is gone it cannot process refunds or look up transactions. Cancel where you actually pay: the Subscription page in the Dashlane browser app for card purchases on dashlane.com, Apple for App Store plans, Google Play for Android, or PayPal itself for PayPal-billed plans.

Why is there no cancel option in my Dashlane mobile app?

The in-app cancel path covers only plans bought with a credit card on dashlane.com, and Dashlane says it shows up only when you use Dashlane in a computer browser — not in the mobile apps and not in the macOS app. There it sits under the Vault menu, then Subscription, then "Cancel your subscription" and "Continue cancellation". If you paid through the App Store, Google Play or PayPal, Dashlane sends you to Apple, Google or PayPal to cancel instead.
