How to cancel Airtable

Cancel Airtable by downgrading the workspace to Free. On a Team plan, open your account overview, pick the workspace under Workspace settings, click Change or cancel plan, then Continue cancellation. The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle, and your bases and records stay accessible.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

If you are on an Airtable Team plan

  1. 1

    Open your Airtable account page.

  2. 2

Under Workspace settings, select the workspace you want to downgrade.

  3. 3

    Click Change or cancel plan.

  4. 4

Review the listed changes, then click Continue cancellation.

  5. 5

Complete the feedback survey if you are prompted for one.

  • Airtable states "Your workspace will switch to the Free plan at the end of your current billing period. You'll keep access to all Team plan features until then."
  • Airtable's downgrade article words the same path as Change plan under the Workspace plan section, then Choose free and follow the on-screen flow.

If you are on a self-serve Airtable Business plan

  1. 1

Open the Airtable admin panel and click Billing.

  2. 2

In the Plan details section, click the three-dot ("...") menu to the right of Business and select Downgrade.

  3. 3

Read the listed changes and tick the acknowledgment checkboxes, then click Acknowledge changes.

  4. 4

Airtable's documented final step is to enter your organization name and click Delete organization — on a self-serve Business plan the downgrade permanently deletes the organization.

  5. 5

Your workspaces then move to the Free plan on the date shown in the confirmation modal.

  • Because this path permanently deletes the organization, read the confirmation modal in full before typing the organization name — Airtable presents it as part of the downgrade rather than as a separate action.

If your Airtable Business or Enterprise plan came from the sales team

  1. 1

Airtable states that sales-led Business and Enterprise Scale plans cannot be downgraded from the billing screen — you should reach out to your sales team contact.

  2. 2

Contact the Airtable account contact who sold you the plan and describe the change you want for the upcoming term.

  3. 3

Ask for the effective date in writing, since Airtable otherwise applies downgrades at the end of the billing cycle.

  4. 4

Airtable also directs refund questions on sales-purchased Business or Enterprise plans to that same account contact.

Expect a retention offer

  • The downgrade flow shows a confirmation screen listing everything that changes before you can click Continue cancellation
  • Airtable prompts you to complete a feedback survey as part of the downgrade
  • On a self-serve Business plan the final confirmation asks you to type your organization name and click Delete organization, which is a heavier gate than a plain cancel button

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

You downgraded Airtable but were charged again anyway.

Airtable applies downgrades at the end of the current billing cycle, not immediately, and states that downgrading mid-billing cycle does not reduce your current invoice — so a charge already issued still stands. A refund is only documented as a courtesy for an accidental upgrade or an accidentally added billable collaborator, within 7 days of the invoice on a monthly plan or 14 days on an annual plan. In that case, downgrade first, then click Get help in the lower right corner, accept the terms, enter "Refund" and follow the prompt with your workspace ID and the last 4 digits of the card.

Your Airtable base won't let you add records after downgrading.

That is the documented Free plan behaviour, not data loss. Airtable states existing bases, tables, records and views remain accessible, but for a base over the Free plan's limits "you can't add new records or attachments until you're back under the limit." Trim or archive records to get back under the cap, or move to a paid plan again.

You can't find a downgrade option on an Airtable Business plan.

Check which kind of Business plan you have. On a self-serve Business plan the path is the admin panel > Billing > the three-dot menu to the right of Business > Downgrade, followed by acknowledging the changes — and Airtable's final documented step permanently deletes the organization. On a sales-led Business or Enterprise Scale plan there is no self-serve option; Airtable tells you to reach out to your sales team contact.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Nothing changes right away — Airtable states that after requesting the downgrade, no functionality changes or limits occur until your next billing cycle date, and that you retain full access to your paid plan's functionality until then.
  • At the end of the billing cycle the automated renewal ends and the workspace moves to the plan you requested.
  • Airtable states "All of your existing bases, tables, records, and views remain accessible" — your data is not deleted.
  • Bases that exceed the Free plan's limits become restricted: you can't add new records or attachments until you're back under the limit.
  • On a self-serve Business plan, the documented downgrade also deletes the organization, and your workspaces move to the Free plan on the date shown in the confirmation modal.
  • Revision and snapshot history shrinks to the new plan's retention window — 2 weeks on Free. Airtable states snapshots that fall outside that window are removed and can't be recovered, even if you upgrade later, so take what you need before the downgrade date.

Refund notes

  • Airtable's documented refunds are narrow courtesy refunds, not a general cancellation refund. It offers them when a billable collaborator was accidentally added, or when a workspace plan was accidentally upgraded: monthly plan customers must contact support within 7 days of receiving the invoice, annual plan customers within 14 days. Refunds are not self-serve — Airtable's steps are to click Get help in the lower right corner, review the privacy policy and click Accept Terms, then enter "Refund" and follow the prompt, with your workspace ID and the last 4 digits of the card used for the workspace plan ready. Airtable tells you to downgrade the workspace plan before requesting the refund, and says refunds typically take between 5 to 10 business days for your bank to process. Separately, Airtable states that downgrading a workspace plan mid-billing cycle does not reduce your current invoice — it only stops the charge at the next renewal.

FAQ

How do I cancel my Airtable subscription?

You downgrade the workspace to the Free plan. On a Team plan: open your Airtable account page, select the workspace under Workspace settings, click Change or cancel plan, review the listed changes and click Continue cancellation. On a self-serve Business plan the path runs through the admin panel's Billing section instead. Owner permissions are required at the workspace level.

Does cancelling Airtable delete my bases and records?

No. Airtable states "All of your existing bases, tables, records, and views remain accessible" after a downgrade. What changes is that bases exceeding the Free plan's limits become restricted — Airtable says you can't add new records or attachments until you're back under the limit. Deleting your user account is a separate action with its own prerequisites.

When does an Airtable downgrade take effect?

At the end of your current billing cycle. Airtable states "Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle, not immediately," and that after requesting the downgrade no functionality changes or limits occur until that date. You retain full access to your paid plan's features in the meantime, then the automated renewal ends.

Can I get a refund from Airtable after downgrading?

Only in narrow circumstances. Airtable documents courtesy refunds for an accidentally upgraded workspace plan or an accidentally added billable collaborator — within 7 days of receiving the invoice on a monthly plan, or 14 days on an annual plan — rather than a refund for simply cancelling. It also states that downgrading mid-billing cycle does not reduce your current invoice. To ask, downgrade the workspace plan first, then click Get help in the lower right corner, review the privacy policy and click Accept Terms, enter "Refund" and follow the prompt, with your workspace ID and the last 4 digits of the card ready. Refunds typically take 5 to 10 business days for your bank to process.

Who is allowed to downgrade an Airtable workspace plan?

Airtable states owner permissions are required when changing plans at the individual workspace level, and admin permissions are required when managing workspaces on sales-led plans. Business and Enterprise Scale plans purchased through Airtable's sales team can't be downgraded from the billing screen at all — Airtable tells you to reach out to your sales team contact.
