How to cancel 1Password

If you subscribed directly at 1Password.com, sign in, open Billing in the sidebar, and choose Cancel subscription. Your account stays active until the current billing period ends, then freezes; you can still sign in to view and export data. Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google must be canceled in those app stores. Refunds for remaining time aren't issued.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period, then your account is frozen.
  • Even while frozen, you can still sign in to 1Password.com or the apps to view and export your data, as long as you don't delete the account.
  • You can restart your subscription at any time; any credits or perks remain on your account for later use.
  • Canceling does not delete your account — deleting the account is a separate, irreversible action.

Refund notes

  • 1Password states it is unable to issue refunds for past charges or for any time remaining on your account at the time of cancellation, and no money-back window is documented. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. Business subscriptions managed by a 1Password representative may have different terms — contact your account manager.

FAQ

Will I get a refund for the unused time on my plan?

No. 1Password says it can't issue refunds for past charges or for any time remaining at cancellation, and there is no documented money-back window. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

What happens to my passwords and data after I cancel?

Your account is frozen once the billing period ends, but you can still sign in to 1Password.com or the apps to view and export your data — as long as you don't delete the account.

I subscribed through the App Store or Google Play — why can't I cancel on 1Password.com?

If you started with an in-app purchase on iPhone, iPad, or Mac, Apple handles billing, so you cancel in your Apple subscription settings. Android in-app purchases are managed through Google Play, not on 1Password.com.

Does canceling delete my 1Password account?

No. Canceling only stops billing and freezes the account after the current period ends. Deleting the account is a separate action, and once you delete it your data can't be recovered.
