How to cancel The League

The League bills through Apple, Google Play, or an in-app credit card via Stripe in select markets, so cancel where you actually pay. The in-app path Account Settings > Support > Manage Subscriptions routes you to the right portal. Deleting or pausing your profile does not stop charges. Access runs to the end of the current term.

Where to start with The League

Open official help
Can you cancel online?
yes
Where to start
In The League app: Account Settings (bottom-right navigation icon) > Support > Manage Subscriptions. The League documents that this routes you to whichever portal actually bills you — App Store, Play Store, or Stripe.
Apple or Google billed?
Possible
Keeps access until
The end of the current subscription term. The League's Terms state that if you cancel, you may continue using the cancelled subscription until the end of your then-current term, and it will not renew when that term expires.
Contract / fees
Standard League memberships are ordinary auto-renewing subscriptions with no minimum term. Separately, The League's Terms describe an optional installment plan, split across one payment at purchase plus three later payments; under that plan, if you cancel before completing all payments, the remaining balance is documented as still due and payable on the agreed installment schedule unless applicable law says otherwise. The Terms also document one jurisdiction-specific rule: members in Germany are given a right to terminate after renewal with a notice period of one month. No general notice period applies elsewhere.

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

From inside The League app (routes you to the right billing portal)

  1. 1

Open The League app and tap Account Settings (the bottom-right navigation icon).

  2. 2

    Tap Support, then Manage Subscriptions.

  3. 3

The League directs you to the portal that bills you — App Store, Play Store or Stripe.

  4. 4

Complete the cancellation in that portal and confirm.

iPhone / iPad — billed by Apple

  2. 2

  4. 4

The League documents this same sequence in its own cancellation article and links out to Apple's support page for more detail.

Refund or billing problem you cannot resolve yourself

  1. 1

If Apple or Google billed you, The League directs you to contact Apple or Google, since they handle those payments.

  2. 2

If you paid in-app by credit card via Stripe, submit a request to The League's support team at https://theleague-help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

  3. 3

The League states its team can verify your membership status and guide you to the correct app store support page; for Stripe purchases it processes eligible refunds directly.

Expect a retention offer

  • The League documents an account pause / "Time Out" as a way to step back, but its own help article states the subscription will continue to auto-renew until you turn it off — pausing is not cancelling.
  • Cancellation is completed in Apple's, Google's or Stripe's portal rather than inside The League, so the app itself does not run a documented save-offer flow.

Please cancel my subscription effective today and email me a confirmation. I'm not interested in a discount or pause.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • The subscription stays usable until the end of the current term, then stops renewing.
  • Your League profile is not removed. The Terms state that cancelling a subscription does not remove your profile, because the service can be used without a subscription — deleting the account is a separate step.
  • The League's website FAQ at https://www.theleague.com/faqs-en/ documents that some members are placed back on the waitlist after cancelling a membership, describing it as a safety and security measure, and directs those members to message The League's support address for next steps. This is documented on the website FAQ rather than in the Zendesk help centre.
  • Any tickets, boosts or other virtual items are documented as final and non-refundable, with no compensation for unused items when an account is closed.
  • If you delete your League account without cancelling first, an Apple- or Google-billed subscription keeps charging — The League's help article states it is not cancelled when you delete the account.

Refund notes

  • The League documents that purchases are generally non-refundable, with exceptions required by law. Refunds follow the biller: Apple handles iOS-purchase refunds, Google handles Android-purchase refunds, and The League's team handles in-app credit card (Stripe) refunds through a support request. The Terms note special refund handling in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island and Wisconsin, and a documented 14-day full-refund right from the start of the subscription in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland. Virtual items such as tickets and boosts are documented as final and non-refundable.

FAQ

Does deleting my The League profile cancel my subscription?

No. The League's help article on deleting an account states plainly that a subscription billed through Apple or Google is not cancelled when you delete your account, and that you must cancel through your App Store or Play Store settings to avoid future charges. The same article notes that uninstalling the app does not delete the account either. Cancel the billing first, then delete the profile.

Does pausing my The League account with Time Out stop the billing?

No. The League's Pause My Account / Time Out article says your profile is hidden and you can still chat with existing matches, but it also states that your subscription will continue to auto-renew until you turn it off. Pausing and cancelling are separate actions — pause hides you, cancelling in the App Store, Play Store or Stripe stops the charges.

Who actually charges me for The League — Apple, Google, or The League itself?

The League's billing article says billing runs through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or an in-app credit card via Stripe, with Stripe available only in select markets. That is why there is no single cancel button on the website. The in-app route Account Settings > Support > Manage Subscriptions is documented to send you to whichever of those three portals is billing your account.

Why am I back on The League waitlist after cancelling my membership?

The League's website FAQ at theleague.com/faqs-en addresses this directly, describing it as a safety and security measure put in place by The League. It tells members who want to rejoin to message The League's support address, where a customer success agent will respond with next steps. It is documented behaviour after cancelling, not a bug in your account — note that it appears on the website FAQ, not in the Zendesk help centre.

Can I get a refund if I cancel The League part-way through a month?

Generally no. The League's cancellation article answers its own question about refunds by saying generally not, while pointing to the Terms because different countries and US states require different handling. Cancelling leaves the membership usable until the end of the current term rather than refunding the unused part. Apple handles iOS refunds, Google handles Android refunds, and The League's team handles Stripe credit card refunds.
