Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Your cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and you remain responsible for that period's fees.
  • Intuit says that after you cancel a single QuickBooks Online subscription, you get read-only access to your data for one year.
  • After that one-year window, you must resubscribe to reach your account data again.

Refund notes

  • Intuit's 60-day money-back assurance applies to annual QuickBooks Online subscriptions but not to monthly subscriptions. Monthly cancellations are not pro-rated, so access continues to the end of the current billing period. Check current terms.

FAQ

Can I cancel QuickBooks Online online?

Yes. If you subscribed directly through Intuit, sign in on a web browser as the primary or company admin, open Settings, select Subscriptions and billing, and choose Cancel subscription. If you signed up through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel through that app store instead.

What happens to my data after I cancel QuickBooks Online?

Intuit says that after you cancel a single QuickBooks Online subscription, you keep read-only access to your data for one year. After that, you must resubscribe to access your account data.

Will I get a refund if I cancel QuickBooks Online?

Intuit's 60-day money-back assurance applies to annual QuickBooks Online subscriptions, not monthly ones. Monthly cancellations aren't pro-rated, so your cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle and you keep access until then. Check current terms.

Why can't I find the cancel option in QuickBooks Online?

Only the primary admin or company admin can cancel the subscription, so if you don't see Subscriptions and billing you may lack admin access. You may also have subscribed through a mobile app store, in which case you cancel in that app store rather than in QuickBooks.
