How to cancel LifeLock

LifeLock cancellation is self-serve online: sign in at my.norton.com and use the cancellation option in your account, or submit a cancellation request through the member portal. You can also call Member Services at 1-800-416-0599. Protection runs to the end of the paid term. Annual plans carry a 60-day money-back guarantee; monthly plans 14 days from purchase.

Where to start with LifeLock

Can you cancel online?
yes
Where to start
Your Norton account at my.norton.com — LifeLock memberships are administered by Norton/Gen Digital, so the cancel control lives under My Account, My Subscriptions. If you subscribed inside the LifeLock Identity mobile app, start in the Apple App Store or Google Play instead. If an ISP or other partner bills you, start with that company.
Apple or Google billed?
Possible
Keeps access until
The end of the term you already paid for. LifeLock's policy states that after cancelling, the subscription will not renew, but protection continues for the remaining days in the existing, already-paid term.
Contract / fees
No fixed term, commitment period or early-termination fee is documented — LifeLock memberships are monthly or annual and can be cancelled at any time. The documented pricing gotcha is renewal, not lock-in: introductory pricing applies to the first term only and plans renew at the standard, higher price — check current pricing on Norton's site before you decide. Norton also states renewal charges may be taken up to 35 days before the renewal date, so cancel well ahead of your renewal date rather than on it. Trial offers require a valid credit or debit card at enrollment and convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel renewal in your Norton account (most members)

  1. 1

Sign in to your Norton account at my.norton.com/extspa/account/subscriptions (the link redirects to Norton SSO sign-in first).

  2. 2

On the My Account page, select the My Subscriptions tab.

  3. 3

Next to your LifeLock or Norton 360 with LifeLock subscription, click Cancel Subscription Renewal or Manage Renewal.

  4. 4

Next to Plan Renewal, click Unsubscribe.

  5. 5

Choose a reason for cancelling, then click Next.

  6. 6

At the retention offer, click 'No thanks, cancel my subscription', then click Next.

  7. 7

A confirmation message is displayed. Allow up to 24 hours for the change to appear in your account, then confirm the subscription shows as not renewing.

  8. 8

Your protection continues until the end of the term you have already paid for.

Submit a cancellation request or call Member Services

  1. 1

Open the LifeLock member portal cancellation request form at memberportal.lifelock.com/support/request (it redirects to Norton's member request page and asks you to sign in).

  2. 2

Alternatively, call LifeLock Member Services & Support at 1-800-416-0599, or use live chat.

  3. 3

State that you want to cancel the membership; LifeLock's policy says you may cancel at any time by submitting a request or contacting Member Services & Support.

  4. 4

Cancel prior to your renewal billing date to allow for processing.

  5. 5

If you also want a refund, check you are inside the window first: annual memberships carry a 60-day money-back guarantee from the purchase or renewal date; monthly memberships are refundable only if requested within 14 days of purchase.

  6. 6

Request the refund in the same contact — refund requests are handled by Member Services or live chat.

  7. 7

After cancelling, your protection continues for the remaining days in the term you have already paid for.

Cancel a LifeLock in-app subscription on iPhone or iPad

  1. 1

This applies if you subscribed to a standalone LifeLock plan with Credit Monitoring through an in-app purchase — Norton states you can only change or cancel it from the Apple App Store, not through Norton.

  2. 2

Open the Settings app and tap your name at the top. (These are Apple's own documented steps — the Norton help page only links out to Apple, it does not document the steps itself.)

  3. 3

    Tap Subscriptions.

  4. 4

Tap the LifeLock subscription, then tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

  5. 5

Do not rely on deleting the app — Norton states that uninstalling the LifeLock Identity app does not automatically cancel the subscription; you must cancel in the store.

Cancel a LifeLock in-app subscription on Android

  1. 1

This applies if you subscribed through an in-app purchase on Google Play — Norton states the subscription can only be changed or cancelled in the store.

  2. 2

Open the Google Play Store and tap your profile icon. (These are Google's own documented steps — the Norton help page only links out to Google, it does not document the steps itself.)

  3. 3

Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

  4. 4

Select the LifeLock subscription and tap Cancel subscription, then confirm.

  5. 5

Uninstalling the app does not stop billing — Norton confirms you must cancel in the store.

LifeLock or Norton billed by an internet or phone provider

  1. 1

Check whether the charge appears on a bill from an ISP, telecom or other partner rather than from Norton or LifeLock.

  2. 2

Contact the company that bills you and ask them to cancel the LifeLock or Norton plan. Norton states it cannot issue refunds for subscriptions billed through partners and directs you to the company that bills you. (Source: Norton KB kb20100512172507EN, 'Norton annual and monthly subscription refunds' — a refunds page, not a partner-cancellation procedure.)

  3. 3

Tip (not documented by Norton): ask that provider to confirm the cancellation date and what happens to the remainder of your billing period.

  4. 4

Tip (not documented by Norton): watch the next statement from that provider to confirm the line item is gone.

Expect a retention offer

  • The online cancellation flow is a multi-screen funnel rather than a single button: Cancel Subscription Renewal, then Unsubscribe next to Plan Renewal, then a cancellation-reason screen, then a retention offer, then a confirmation.
  • The final step is worded as a decline — you have to click 'No thanks, cancel my subscription' and then Next to finish.
  • Downgrading to a cheaper LifeLock plan is not self-serve: Norton documents that you must call Member Services and name the plan and members you want moved, while upgrades can be done online in a few clicks.
  • Refunds cannot be self-served — they require contacting Member Services or live chat, which routes cancellers to a live representative.
  • Renewal charges may be taken up to 35 days before the renewal date, so members who wait until the renewal date to act may already have been billed.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • The membership stops renewing — Norton's policy states the subscription will not automatically renew after you cancel.
  • Protection continues for the remaining days in the term you already paid for, so identity monitoring, alerts and restoration support stay active until that term ends.
  • A confirmation message appears at the end of the online flow; allow up to 24 hours for the cancelled status to show in your Norton account.
  • Cancelling does not by itself issue a refund — a refund is a separate request to Member Services or live chat, within 60 days of an annual purchase or renewal, or 14 days of an initial monthly purchase.
  • If the plan was billed by an app store or by an ISP or other partner, the charge only stops once you cancel with that biller — cancelling in your Norton account does not reach them.

Refund notes

  • Annual LifeLock memberships carry a documented 60-day money-back guarantee, measured from the purchase or renewal date, so an annual renewal charge is refundable if you request it within 60 days. Monthly memberships are refundable only if requested within 14 days of purchase; subsequent monthly renewals are not eligible under the standard policy. Refunds are not self-serve — you must submit a request to Member Services & Support or use live chat. If you bought through an app store, reseller, retailer or service provider, LifeLock notes that your cancellation, return and refund eligibility may differ and is governed by that third party's terms; Norton states it cannot issue refunds for subscriptions billed through partners.

FAQ

Do I have to call to cancel LifeLock?

No. Norton documents a self-serve online path: sign in to your Norton account, open the My Subscriptions tab, select Cancel Subscription Renewal or Manage Renewal, click Unsubscribe next to Plan Renewal, choose a cancellation reason, then decline the retention offer to finish. A phone call is documented as required only if you want to downgrade to a lower LifeLock plan — upgrades and cancellation are self-serve, downgrades are not. You can still call Member Services at 1-800-416-0599 if you prefer.

Does deleting the LifeLock Identity app cancel my subscription?

No. Norton states plainly that uninstalling the LifeLock Identity app does not cancel the subscription. If you signed up through an in-app purchase, the subscription lives with Apple or Google and can only be changed or cancelled in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store — not in the app and not by Norton.

Does LifeLock protection stop the moment I cancel?

No. Norton's policy states that after cancelling, the subscription will not renew, but your protection continues for the remaining days in your existing, already-paid term. Identity monitoring, alerts and restoration support end when that paid term runs out.

Can I get a refund when I cancel LifeLock?

Cancelling stops the renewal but does not by itself issue a refund. LifeLock documents a 60-day money-back guarantee on annual memberships, measured from the purchase or renewal date. Monthly memberships are refundable only if requested within 14 days of purchase; later monthly renewals are not. Refunds are not self-serve — you must request one from Member Services & Support or via live chat.

Why is my LifeLock renewal price higher than what I paid the first year?

LifeLock advertises introductory pricing that is valid for the introductory term only, after which the plan renews at the standard, higher price. Norton also notes that renewal charges may be taken up to 35 days prior to the renewal date, so a charge can land before the date you had in mind. Check current pricing on the plan page before your term ends.
