How to cancel Brigit

Brigit's Terms let you cancel at any time through Brigit's website, the mobile app, or by emailing info@hellobrigit.com — even with an outstanding Instant Cash advance. Brigit bills you directly, not through an app store. You are still charged for the month you cancel in. Credit Builder, credit monitoring and identity theft protection end immediately; other benefits run to the term's end.

Contract / fees
Brigit's Terms set no term commitment and document no early-termination fee — the subscription is monthly and cancellable at any time. Billing is direct: Terms 7.2.1 require you to link a bank account or debit card as your Payment Method, and Brigit automatically charges that Payment Method for the subscription fee on the last day of each billing period. Section 7.4 frames all collection as ACH or debit-card transactions, so there is no Apple or Google app-store subscription in the middle. An outstanding Instant Cash advance does not block cancellation — Brigit's Terms state you may cancel "regardless of whether you have an outstanding Advance." Separately from cancelling, revoking the ACH/electronic debit authorization requires notifying Brigit at least three business days before a scheduled debit date, including the name and telephone number on your Brigit User Account; Brigit warns that incorrect or incomplete information may make it impossible to stop the withdrawal. Closing a Credit Builder account is described as a separate step taken to avoid charges for future months.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel in the Brigit app or on Brigit's website

  1. 1

Open the Brigit app on your phone, or sign in to your Brigit account on the web at app.hellobrigit.com.

  2. 2

Cancel your Brigit Subscription there — Brigit's Terms state you may cancel at any time through Brigit's website or the mobile application.

  3. 3

You can do this even with money still owed: the Terms say you may cancel regardless of whether you have an outstanding Advance.

  4. 4

If you also have a Credit Builder account, close that account too — Brigit describes closing it as the way to avoid charges for future months.

  5. 5

Expect one more subscription charge on the last day of the billing period for the month in which you cancelled.

Cancel by emailing or chatting with Brigit support

  1. 1

Email Brigit at info@hellobrigit.com — the address Section 10 of Brigit's Terms of Service names for cancelling a Brigit Subscription — from the email address on your account. (Brigit's contact page lists support@hellobrigit.com for general support; the Terms specify info@hellobrigit.com for cancellation, so use that one and copy support@ if you want.)

  2. 2

Say plainly that you want to cancel your Brigit Subscription, and note whether you also want your Credit Builder account closed.

  3. 3

Alternatively, use the chat bubble on Brigit's contact page; Brigit says its AI agent Sonny is available 24/7 and, if Sonny can't find a solution, you'll be routed to a Customer Care Associate and receive a response within 24 hours.

  4. 4

Keep the confirmation, and check that no charge appears after the billing period in which you cancelled.

Revoke the recurring bank debit authorization (separate step)

  1. 1

Cancelling the subscription stops future subscription fees, but Brigit's Terms treat your ACH and debit card authorization as a separate permission that stays in force until you revoke it.

  2. 2

Contact Brigit to revoke that electronic debit authorization, and send the request at least three business days before the scheduled debit date — Brigit's Terms set that deadline.

  3. 3

Include the name and telephone number associated with your Brigit User Account; the Terms warn that incorrect or incomplete information may make it impossible for Brigit to stop the withdrawal.

  4. 4

Note that revoking a payroll direct deposit assignment is handled in the app or through your employer, and that any outstanding advance will still be repaid from your linked external bank account.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • You are not charged for subsequent months, but you are still charged for the month in which you cancelled.
  • Credit Builder, Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft Protection access ends immediately at cancellation.
  • All other Brigit benefits continue through the end of the term in which you cancelled.
  • An outstanding Instant Cash advance is unaffected — cancelling is allowed with one outstanding, and the repayment authorization stays in place until separately revoked.
  • A Credit Builder account is closed as its own step; Brigit describes closing it as the way to avoid charges for future months.
  • Because Brigit charges your linked bank account or debit card directly, there is no separate Apple or Google subscription left running after you cancel.

Refund notes

  • Brigit's Terms state you will still be charged on the last day of the billing period for the month in which you cancelled. No proration, mid-cycle refund, or money-back window is documented on Brigit's own pages.

FAQ

Can I cancel Brigit if I still owe an Instant Cash advance?

Yes. Brigit's Terms of Service state you may cancel your Brigit Subscription regardless of whether you have an outstanding Advance. Repaying that advance is handled separately under the repayment authorization you already gave Brigit, so cancelling the membership does not erase the advance and the advance does not block the cancellation.

Will Brigit still charge me for the month I cancel in?

Yes. Brigit's Terms say you can cancel at any time and will not be charged for subsequent months, but you will still be charged on the last day of the billing period for the month in which you cancelled. Brigit does not document proration or a refund of that final month's subscription fee.

Does cancelling my Brigit subscription close my Credit Builder account?

Brigit treats these as two things. Its Terms say you lose access to Credit Builder, Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft Protection immediately when you cancel the subscription, and separately that you can close your Credit Builder account at any time to avoid charges for future months. If you have a Credit Builder account, close it as well.

How do I stop Brigit from debiting my bank account after I cancel?

Cancelling ends future subscription fees, but Brigit's Terms treat the electronic debit authorization as a separate permission you revoke by contacting Brigit. They require notice at least three business days before the scheduled debit date and ask you to include the name and telephone number associated with your Brigit User Account.

Is Brigit cancelled in the app, on the website, or by email?

Any of the three. Brigit's Terms list cancellation through Brigit's website, the mobile application, or by emailing info@hellobrigit.com. Brigit's contact page also offers a chat bubble staffed by its AI agent Sonny, with routing to a Customer Care Associate and a response within 24 hours. Brigit bills you directly rather than through an app store — the Terms require you to link a bank account or debit card as your Payment Method, so there is no Apple or Google subscription to cancel separately.
