How to cancel Blinkist

Cancel Blinkist wherever you subscribed. If you signed up through Apple, open Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, tap Blinkist, and cancel. If through Google Play, open the Play Store > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. If you subscribed directly on Blinkist's site, deactivate renewal in your account settings. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Contract / fees
No minimum term, lock-in contract, or early-termination fee is documented. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period. The self-serve cancellation path in account settings applies to subscriptions purchased directly from Blinkist; purchases made in the mobile apps are managed through the respective app store. Blinkist also documents that people using Blinkist through Premium Sharing (invited onto someone else's plan) or as a company benefit will not see a cancel option, because they are not being charged. Note the 24-hour figure is a documented cut-off before the period ends, not a conventional advance-notice period — the only true notice period documented is the Germany-specific one-month rule for annual plans after the first year.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel in Blinkist account settings (bought on the Blinkist website)

  1. 1

Log in to your Blinkist account using the email address the subscription was purchased with. Blinkist's help center notes that if your account looks like a Basic account, you may need to log out and log back in with the correct subscription email.

  2. 2

Open your account settings at blinkist.com/nc/settings.

  3. 3

In account settings, cancel your trial or deactivate the automatic renewal for your subscription.

  4. 4

Do this at least 24 hours before the end of your current billing period — or, for a free trial, up to 24 hours before the trial ends — which Blinkist documents as the cut-off for stopping the next charge.

  5. 5

Your subscription stays active until the end of the current cycle. Once it expires, Blinkist documents that no additional charges occur.

Email support for a refund under the 14-day money-back guarantee

  1. 1

Email support@blinkist.com within the first 14 days of your initial purchase date.

  2. 2

Ask the Support Team to cancel your subscription and refund the purchase — Blinkist documents that they will do both under the 14-day money-back guarantee.

  3. 3

Note the documented limits: the guarantee applies to first-time purchases only, not to renewals, and it covers gift subscriptions only if they have not already been redeemed.

  4. 4

If you bought through the Apple App Store, Blinkist cannot refund it — contact Apple Support directly, as Blinkist states refund decisions for App Store purchases are made solely by Apple.

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Cancellation is not immediate — your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing cycle, and Blinkist says you can keep using everything until then.
  • Once the subscription expires, Blinkist documents that no additional charges occur.
  • You need an active subscription to access your library. If the subscription simply expires, Blinkist says it keeps your library ready for whenever you decide to resubscribe.
  • Deleting your Blinkist account is a separate action and does not cancel a paid subscription. Blinkist warns that deleting your account without cancelling may result in continued charges, and that deleting the account permanently loses your library and reading statistics.

Refund notes

  • Blinkist documents a 14-day money-back guarantee: email support@blinkist.com within the first 14 days of your initial purchase date and the Support Team will cancel the subscription and refund it. It applies to first-time purchases only, not renewals, and there is no self-serve refund button. Cancelling mid-cycle does not produce a pro-rated refund — access simply runs to the end of the paid period. Apple App Store purchases must be refunded by Apple, which decides under its own policies. Separately, Blinkist documents that German residents who subscribed via the website after 1 March 2022 can, after the first year, cancel an annual subscription at any time with one month's notice and receive a pro-rated refund for the remaining months.

FAQ

Does cancelling Blinkist cut off your access straight away?

No. Blinkist's help center states the subscription doesn't end immediately upon cancellation — it stays active until the end of your current billing cycle, and you can keep using everything until then. Once it expires, no additional charges occur.

How late can you cancel Blinkist before it renews or the trial converts?

Blinkist documents a 24-hour cut-off: you can cancel your subscription up to 24 hours before the end of the current billing period, and a free trial up to 24 hours before the trial period ends, so no charge goes through.

Does deleting your Blinkist account also cancel the paid subscription?

No, and this is the trap Blinkist itself flags. Its help center warns that deleting your account won't cancel a paid subscription automatically and may result in continued charges, because the two processes are not linked. Cancel the subscription first, then delete the account if you want to.

Can you get your money back from Blinkist after being charged?

Blinkist offers a 14-day money-back guarantee: email support@blinkist.com within the first 14 days of your initial purchase date and the Support Team will cancel and refund it. It covers first-time purchases only, not renewals. If you subscribed in the Apple App Store, you have to request the refund from Apple instead.

Do you keep your Blinkist library after the subscription ends?

You need an active subscription to open your library, but Blinkist says that if your subscription simply expires it keeps your library ready for whenever you resubscribe. Deleting your account is different — Blinkist states your library and reading statistics are then permanently lost.
