How to cancel Albert

Albert bills its subscription directly, not through the App Store or Google Play, so you cancel with Albert. Deactivating your account at albert.com/deactivate — or in the app via Profile → menu → Payments → Help center — cancels the subscription. Savings and Investing balances must be $0 first, and Albert's help center says monthly subscription fees are not refunded.

Menus and labels can change. If the steps below don’t match what you see, use the official help link on this page.

Not commonly documented
Keeps access until
Deactivation cancels the subscription at that point. Albert documents no proration and no refund for a monthly subscription payment already charged; free features stay available after you deactivate.
Contract / fees
No term contract or early-termination fee is documented. The real constraint is balances: Albert's Terms of Use require an Albert Savings and/or Albert Investing balance of $0 to cancel the subscription, and a $0 balance across all Albert products to close the account. The terms also note that pending deposits or unsettled Investing trades may force you to wait until they settle before you can cancel. Albert's help center adds that deactivating does not remove any advance or loan balance owed — you must keep making payments on it, and permanent closure requires repaying any outstanding advance or loan first.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Cancel on the web at albert.com/deactivate

  1. 1

Bring your Albert Savings and Investing balances to $0 — Albert's terms require this before the subscription can be cancelled, and pending deposits or unsettled Investing trades may mean waiting until they settle.

  2. 2

Open albert.com/deactivate in a web browser and log in when prompted — albert.com/deactivate opens Albert's "Log in" screen.

  3. 3

Follow the prompts to deactivate; Albert states that deactivating your account will cancel your Albert subscription.

  4. 4

If you want everything closed permanently instead, first repay any outstanding advance or loan and zero your Albert Cash balance, then choose the closure option.

Cancel inside the Albert app

  1. 1

On the home screen, select profile (person icon).

  2. 2

Tap the menu icon in the top left.

  3. 3

    Tap "Payments".

  4. 4

    Tap "Help center".

  5. 5

Choose "Deactivate or close my accounts" and follow the prompts.

Ask Albert support to cancel

  1. 1

Zero out your Albert Savings and Investing balances first — Albert's Terms of Use require an Albert Savings and/or Albert Investing balance of $0 to cancel the subscription, and note that pending deposits or unsettled Investing trades may force you to wait until they settle.

  2. 2

Text Albert customer support at 639-37, or email support@albert.com, and ask to deactivate your account and cancel the subscription — the Terms of Use list both as ways to cancel your subscription or close your account.

  3. 3

Alternatively, use Albert's virtual support agent: the deactivation help article offers a chat link for guided support deactivating or closing your account, and the pricing article points to "the Albert app or website help agent".

  4. 4

If you just have questions rather than a cancellation request, the Terms of Use also direct you to Settings → Profile → Help.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Deactivating cancels the Albert subscription but keeps your login details active, so the account can be reactivated later.
  • Albert's help center says free features remain available after deactivation.
  • Any outstanding advance or loan balance survives deactivation — Albert states you must continue making payments, and auto-pay stays in place if you enabled it.
  • Permanent closure is a separate, stricter option: it requires $0 Cash, Savings and Investing balances plus repayment of any outstanding advance or loan, and after closure you cannot send or receive funds with the account.
  • Incoming deposits arriving after closure are returned, which Albert says may take several days.

Refund notes

  • Albert's help center states it does not offer refunds for monthly Albert subscriptions, and the terms describe no proration of the fee, so cancelling mid-cycle does not return money already charged.

FAQ

Does cancelling Albert wipe out an outstanding Albert Instant cash advance?

No. Albert's help center is explicit that deactivating your account does not remove any advance or loan balances owed — you have to keep making payments, and auto-pay continues if you enabled it. Permanently closing the account goes further: Albert requires you to repay any outstanding advance or loan balance before it will close.

Why won't Albert let me cancel my subscription?

Almost always a balance. Albert's Terms of Use state you must have an Albert Savings and/or Albert Investing balance of $0 to cancel the subscription, and a $0 balance across all Albert products to close the account. Pending deposits or unsettled Investing trades can also hold things up until they settle, so withdraw your Savings, sell and withdraw your Investing holdings, wait for settlement, then retry deactivation.

Is the Albert subscription fee separate from an Albert cash advance?

Yes, they are separate. Albert's help center says a subscription is not required to use Instant and has no impact on the amount you're eligible for, and that there are no late fees or interest on Albert Advances. The Albert subscription fee is its own recurring charge — Albert sells tiered plans (Standard, Genius and Family), so check current pricing for your tier.

Can I get a refund on my Albert subscription after I cancel?

Albert's help center states it does not offer refunds for monthly Albert subscriptions, and the terms describe no proration of the fee. Practically, that means deactivating mid-cycle stops future charges rather than returning the payment you have already made, so time the cancellation before your next billing date.

Do I cancel Albert through the App Store or Google Play?

No. Albert documents its own cancellation channels rather than an app-store subscription screen: albert.com/deactivate on the web, Profile → menu → Payments → Help center → "Deactivate or close my accounts" in the app, texting support at 639-37, emailing support@albert.com, or using Albert's virtual support agent chat.
