How to cancel ABCmouse

Billed directly, ABCmouse cancels in the app: profile icon, Settings, Manage My Account, then Cancel Membership, a reason survey, and a final confirmation. Monthly plans billed directly by ABCmouse using a credit card, PayPal, or Apple Pay can be paused for 1, 2, or 3 months instead. If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Verizon or Samsung bills you, cancel there. Charges are final and non-refundable.

Where to start with ABCmouse

Can you cancel online?
yes
Where to start
In the ABCmouse app or on abcmouse.com after logging in: profile/avatar icon, then Settings, then Manage My Account, then the Membership Details page — where Cancel Membership and Pause Membership sit together. On legacy ABCmouse Classic accounts the path is the Gear icon, then Parent Section, then My Account, then the Cancellation panel, and Classic is not supported in mobile web browsers. If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Verizon, or the Samsung Galaxy App Store bills you, start in that provider's subscription settings instead.
Apple or Google billed?
Possible
Keeps access until
The end of the billing period you have already paid for — ABCmouse states you continue to have full access for the remainder of the current paid period, after which your payment method is no longer charged.
Contract / fees
No contract, term commitment, or early-termination fee. ABCmouse Classic's cancellation and refund policy states that "ABCmouse Classic does not charge cancellation fees." Subscriptions renew until cancelled: ABCmouse Classic's subscription-management article states that upgrading a monthly plan gives you "an annual subscription rate that will recur annually until cancelled." Cancelling is self-serve for direct-billed accounts — no phone call or support ticket is required, though ABCmouse also offers cancellation through the blue Help chat icon on its support site — but ABCmouse warns that "each active subscription must be canceled separately," including subscriptions created under different email addresses.

Step-by-step cancellation

These steps only appear when the flow was verified against an official provider or platform source.

Billed directly by ABCmouse (app or abcmouse.com)

  1. 1

Open the ABCmouse app and log in if needed.

  2. 2

Click the Avatar/profile icon in the upper-left corner.

  3. 3

Click Settings in the lower-left corner — you may be prompted to enter your birth year or password.

  4. 4

    Select Manage My Account.

  5. 5

On the Membership Details page you will see your subscription and next renewal date. If you have a monthly subscription billed directly by ABCmouse via credit card, PayPal or Apple Pay, this page also shows a Pause Membership button offering a 1-, 2-, or 3-month pause — ignore it if you want to end the membership outright.

  6. 6

Select the Cancel Membership button at the bottom of the screen and follow the prompts.

  7. 7

Select one of the boxes that best represents why you wish to cancel, then select Continue to Cancel.

  8. 8

On the last reminder of the benefits you will lose, choose 'Yes, Cancel My Membership' rather than 'Keep Learning'.

  9. 9

You should land on a confirmation screen stating your membership is cancelled and showing how much access time remains. ABCmouse also shows an offer to move your child up to Adventure Academy (ages 8-13) — you can ignore it; declining is not required to complete the cancellation.

  10. 10

Check your email for the cancellation confirmation and keep it for your records. If you were redirected to the homepage without seeing a confirmation message, ABCmouse says to check your email to verify the cancellation went through.

  11. 11

Using ABCmouse after cancelling, up to the date shown on the confirmation, does not affect your cancellation status.

ABCmouse Classic account, billed directly

  1. 1

Log in to your ABCmouse Classic account using the ABCmouse Classic app on a tablet or phone, or the ABCmouse Classic website on a computer. Classic is not supported in mobile web browsers, so on a phone or tablet the app is required; if you cannot install it, use a computer or contact customer support.

  2. 2

Select the Gear icon at the top of your screen.

  3. 3

    Select the Parent Section icon.

  4. 4

    Select the My Account panel.

  5. 5

Select the Cancellation panel located on the My Account page.

  6. 6

Select the subscription(s) you want to cancel — Assessment and/or ABCmouse.com. If you subscribe to both, select both, or you will keep being charged for the one you did not select. Then click Continue.

  7. 7

Review the reminder of the exclusive benefits you will miss, then select End Membership.

  8. 8

If a special sale price is offered, decline it by selecting End Membership again (claiming the offer instead requires entering your account password).

  9. 9

Select End Membership once more to confirm the cancellation.

  10. 10

You will be told you keep full account access until the end of the current subscription period, after which your payment method is no longer charged. If you did not also cancel Assessment Center, a note will say it remains active.

  11. 11

Watch for the confirmation email and keep it for your records.

  12. 12

Alternative: instead of the in-app flow you can click the blue Help icon in the lower-right corner of the ABCmouse support site to cancel via the customer care chat — but do not exit the chat before you get a cancellation confirmation, or the subscription can stay active.

Billed through the Apple App Store

  1. 1

Open the iOS Settings app and tap your name at the top of the screen.

  2. 2

ABCmouse's article documents Apple's older route from here: tap iTunes & App Store, tap your Apple ID at the top, then tap View Apple ID, signing in with Touch ID or Face ID if prompted. On current iOS versions, Subscriptions appears directly on the Apple Account screen, so you can skip straight to it.

  3. 3

    Tap Subscriptions and select ABCmouse.

  4. 4

    Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

  5. 5

ABCmouse states it cannot access or manage your Apple App Store subscription on your behalf, so the cancellation must be completed through Apple. You keep access for the remainder of the period already paid for, no refund is issued, and deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Billed through the Google Play Store

  1. 1

    Open the Google Play app.

  2. 2

Tap your profile icon in the top right.

  3. 3

Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

  4. 4

Find and tap your ABCmouse subscription.

  5. 5

    Tap Cancel.

  6. 6

ABCmouse states it cannot access or manage the Google Play Store on your behalf, so the cancellation must be completed through Google. Uninstalling the app does not stop the billing.

Expect a retention offer

  • Cancel-reason survey: after selecting Cancel Membership you must pick a box explaining why, then select Continue to Cancel
  • Final reminder screen listing the benefits you lose, with 'Keep Learning' presented next to 'Yes, Cancel My Membership'
  • The post-cancellation confirmation screen carries an offer to move your child up to the Adventure Academy program for ages 8 to 13
  • Pause Membership sits beside Cancel Membership on the Membership Details page as an alternative to cancelling — offered on monthly plans billed directly by credit card, PayPal or Apple Pay
  • The ABCmouse Classic flow inserts a special sale offer before the final confirmation
  • The ABCmouse Classic flow requires selecting 'End Membership' at three separate screens before the cancellation registers
  • Each active subscription must be cancelled separately, including any set up under a different email address; Classic subscribers to both Assessment Center and ABCmouse.com must select both or keep paying for the one they skipped

Common problems

Only official-source troubleshooting notes are included here.

What happens after you cancel?

Post-cancellation details like access, downgrade behavior, and refund caveats are shown only when the provider documents them.

  • Future renewals and billing stop — ABCmouse states the subscription will not renew once it expires.
  • You keep full access to ABCmouse for the remainder of the billing period you have already paid for, and using it up to that date does not affect the cancellation.
  • ABCmouse sends a cancellation confirmation email and advises saving it for your records; if you were redirected to the homepage without a confirmation message, ABCmouse says to check your email to verify the cancellation went through.
  • The confirmation screen also carries an offer to move your child up to Adventure Academy (ages 8-13) — ignoring it does not undo the cancellation.
  • No refund is issued and previously charged subscription fees are not prorated.
  • ABCmouse states a Basic version remains available without entering payment information, and you can resubscribe on the same account at any time.
  • Cancelling the subscription is separate from deleting your data — ABCmouse publishes a separate article on deleting account data and personal information.

Refund notes

  • ABCmouse states that all subscription charges are final and non-refundable, that refunds (full or prorated) are not offered once a subscription has been prepaid or renewed, and that refunds are not provided for unused time remaining in a subscription period after cancellation. ABCmouse Classic's policy uses the same wording: subscriptions are prepaid and non-refundable. There is no documented refund request path — to avoid a charge, ABCmouse advises cancelling before your next billing date. Apple- and Google-billed subscribers who want a refund would have to raise it with that store, not with ABCmouse.

FAQ

Will ABCmouse refund the unused part of my annual subscription if I cancel early?

No. ABCmouse's cancellation and refund policy states that all ABCmouse subscription charges are final and non-refundable, that refunds are not offered once a subscription has been prepaid or renewed, and that refunds are not provided for unused time remaining in a subscription period after cancellation. You keep access until the paid period ends.

Can I pause ABCmouse instead of cancelling it?

Sometimes. Pause Membership is a separate button on the Membership Details page, alongside Cancel Membership — not an offer injected into the cancellation flow. It covers monthly plans billed directly by ABCmouse using a credit card, PayPal, or Apple Pay, and pauses billing for 1, 2, or 3 months. ABCmouse states the pause is unavailable for annual and semi-annual plans, app-store-billed subscriptions, and Assessment Center or Adventure Academy.

I deleted the ABCmouse app — did that cancel my subscription?

No. ABCmouse states explicitly that subscriptions are not cancelled by stopping use of the program, deleting or uninstalling the app, or changing or removing a payment method. You have to finish the cancellation flow with whoever actually bills you, whether that is ABCmouse directly or an app store.

I cancelled ABCmouse but I'm still being charged — why?

ABCmouse's policy page notes that each active subscription must be cancelled separately, including subscriptions set up under different email addresses, so check every address your household may have used. On ABCmouse Classic, subscribing to both Assessment Center and ABCmouse.com means selecting both in the Cancellation panel, or the one you skipped keeps billing. ABCmouse also sends a cancellation confirmation email — no email suggests the cancellation did not complete.

How do I cancel ABCmouse if Amazon or Verizon bills me?

Through that provider. ABCmouse states that if you purchased through an app store or other third-party billing provider, your subscription and billing are managed by that provider and must be cancelled through them. ABCmouse's help pages name Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Verizon and Samsung Galaxy App Store as third-party billers and publish separate step-by-step articles for Amazon and Verizon (both written for ABCmouse Classic). The explicit statement that ABCmouse "cannot access or manage" the subscription on your behalf appears in the Apple and Google Play articles.
